Chapter 7

"Meet Mister Jax"

My husband and I wanted to adopt another kitten as our 2 older cats of 17 yrs. Shadow & Squeakers, Had passed away about a year into this Sammi Jo Story. You see Sammi Jo was to be my kitten, But chose @krazzytrukker.

I would get bitten or scratched when I would try to handle Sammi Jo. It is true when they say that the cat chooses it's human, We have seen this first hand with "Sam Sam." We also saw this with our 2nd Rescue.

“Mr. Jax” He is a chocolate point Siamese. He is my boy. Named after Jax Teller from the Sons of Anarchy television series. This is how we met “Mr Jax.” Our local Pets-mart store has weekend adoption drives. My husbands Aunt Susan & Her Husband John Butler were down from Rockingham, NC. visiting with us in N. FLA for the weekend. (Dec, 2012) We stopped in to Pets-mart. They had no Siamese. I had my heart set on that breed. KT was sure he could talk me into another long hair. Either a Rag Doll, or Main Coon. Nope.! I was not going to budge. So we ran down to Ocala, FL. To another Pets-mart store. They had a couple Rags. They looked like Samantha Jo. But I made eye contact with a terrified little chocolate point. He was cowering in fear in the back of a cage that was out of myreach.

John Butler is a rather tall man with long arms and legs. He quickly came to my rescue, being a “Cat Daddy” himself, He gently took the Kitten from the cage and handed him to me. And that was that. KT put the long haired Rag Doll kitten he was holding back into the cage. And believe Me, I could tell that was not easy for him to do. We almost went home with #3 that day also.

Jax was found near death, in the Ocala Florida Landfill. We were told that every day kittens are found there that arrive in the trash dumpsters. 9 out of 10 times they are dead. We can only guess that the mother cat must move them into a trash dumpster trying to hide them, or HORRIBLE people throw them out like trash. They get dumped into the compactor truck, that kills most of them by crushing or suffocating them. What a Survivor Jax is..!! He is still afraid of plastic bags of trash. The landfill workers throw them in a box, give them water, and if they live till the end of the work day. The Kittens are delivered to the local shelter. Jax was barely alive, His eyes were so infected, they did not expect him to keep them. If He did, He would be blind. But “Mr. Jax” is a survivor. He is very strong, a muscular fellow. His eyes get very watery at times. They are such a beautiful blue. He is very cross-eyed. We believe He has a slight vision impairment, but it really does not slow him down

"Mr. Jax" He wanted nothing to do with my husband KT for several years. He loves his Momma (me) & Samantha too. But KT..? Not so much. It took Jax several years just to feel safe enough for my husband to be able to touch or hold him. He now comes to see him quite a bit. Jax will even eat ice cream off of his spoon. It has taken over 6 yrs to get to this point. But it was worth every frustrating , run & hide moment of it. KT just kept stopping to love on him every chance he got. Of course the fact that KT and Sammi Jo are gone so much on the road making a living. That slowed the whole trust issue down to a very slow process, As soon as Jax would get curious and want to see them. Boom ! They were gone again.
