Since September is the month my girlfriend and I adopted Mishcatt last year, I’m making this post about the most majestic cat in the apartment!
Since both of my girlfriend and I are Veterinary Medicine students, I expected that we would adopt a pet and treat it as our “baby”. At first, I wasn’t entirely in agreement with adopting an animal because of the huge responsibility and cost of feeding it, cleaning up its mess and checking up on its health; So, my girlfriend decided to “adopt” two cacti. Eventually, things got boring. Both of us weren’t fans of plant so she took back her plants home and then opportunity strikes. A mutual friend of ours, also a Veterinary Medicine student, posted on Facebook for the adoption of her cat’s kittens. We saw this tiny, white kitten with a crooked tail and we were sure she’s going to be our “baby”.
When we got her at first, she was quite shy and didn’t do much. We haven’t even heard her do a single full “meow” until she was at least 4 months with us. The three of us lived in a small one-room apartment, but for Mishcatt, it was her playground. She constantly whacks and chases my lighters and my girlfriend’s highlighters and pens. Most of the time, I’d spend the weekend trying to find where Mishcatt hid all those things.
Fast forward to this year, Mishcatt didn’t even seem to show noticeable growth. She still weighed less than 5 kilograms and was still the same baby cat. Unfortunately, she got an ear mite infestation a few months back and had constant cat acne (her chin had black stuff stuck to it). The worst part about its was the ear mites are quite a nuisance so Mishcatt constantly scratches her ear even though it’s already bleeding. We had no choice but to get her an e-collar (it looks like a cone worn on the neck by the animal) so she would stop hurting herself. She had a hard time wearing the cone, it prevented her from hurting herself but it made other activities like eating and cuddling tough. It was really hard and expensive to treat her condition and up to today, we’re still treating her. I really hope we could treat her ear mites as soon as possible. That’s all for now, cheers, Steemit community!
