This is a bit indulgent but I feel like I have to share some snaps of our kitten, Hilo:
He's over a year old now, and is the most playful and affectionate (and occasionally naughty!) little cat:
We don't know much about his past. He's a rescue-cat, we got him from the no-kill cat rescue centre near where we live, in Sydney Australia. The vet there said she went to open up the place early one Wednesday morning and heard a small box 'meowing' near the door. When she opened it, Hilo was in there, 6 weeks old and all by himself. No siblings, no note.
No nothing. He was a bit underweight when the vet took him in and even when we first took him home (aged 9 weeks by that point)
But after a couple of months of good food, nutrician, and much love from the both of us, our little boy was running riot in the apartment!
We called him Hilo (pronounced 'Hee-Low'), because we thought his coloration reminded us of the black-sand sparkly beaches near Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii:
This little guy has truly changed our lives for the better (and we hope we've done the same for him!). Every day I come home from work and am greeted by him, it is a true joy!
Also, as a kitten he simply loves sitting in old egg boxes:
I'll keep all you great Steemit folks up to date with more from Hilo soon.
For now, goodbye and meeoooowww!
End-note: all images are my own.

Purring does not always indicate that a cat is happy. Cats will also purr loudly when they are distressed or in pain.
This is true! We once took little Hilo to visit our neighbour in the apartment across the hall. She also had a cat. We thought he was happy-purring but then quickly realised it was "nervous" purring, so we took him straight back home!
The cat appears to be the only domestic companion animal not mentioned in the Bible.
