New Small Mercedes G-Class?

In 2014 it was rumored that Mercedes-Benz wanted to bring a more compact version of the G-Class to the market in 2019. And in 2018 it seems that it is also more than just a rumor.

In 2014 there was also the rumor that this mini boulevard cruiser would be given the type designation cap and that the car would place itself above the GLA in the production line. After the introduction of the new G-Class, Mercedes is now on the point that the rights for the cap variants with 200, 220 and 250 badge have been fixed.

This badge is probably for the engines that are also used in the A-Class (and therefore CLA & GLA). The motorization would start with the 4-cylinder 2-liter turbo and this would then get a power of 156 hp and 250 Nm of torque and let's hope that the AMG engine with 360 hp / 450 Nm gets a spot. But there is also a chance that the baby G in Europe will get a Renault / Nissan-inspired 4 cylinder on petrol or diesel, varying from 160 to 300 hp. And that last, the 300 hp version, would then go back to a hybrid drive with the A35 AMG drive from the new A-class coming. We do not really get clarity yet.

But since there is more and more concrete around the smaller G, that does not have to last forever. In any case, we are waiting smartly for the hip G-Class that will be affordable for the middle class. The price will be between the GLA and the GLC, so the starting price will be somewhere between € 35,000 and € 55,000.
