In Januray, during its Arizona SaleRM Sotheby's will auction this beautiful 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster. No price known yet, but on previous auction this year, you can buy one for about $US 90,000. Perfect ride for summer.
History of the Jaguar E-Type
The Jaguar E-Type was presented at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. An immediate success... Enzo Ferrari was even rumoured to have told "the most beautiful car ever made". The E-Type was produced between 1961 and 1975 in three series with technological improvements learned in racing from the D-Type. For the Series 1, the production was from1961 to 1968 with 3 body style :
- 2-door fastback coupé,
- 2-door 2+2 fastback coupé,
- 2-door roadster.
The body and chassis is a monocoque tub just like the D-Type with a 3.8 Litre or 4.2 litre six-cylinder Jaguar XK6 engine. With its light weight and the aerodynamism by Malcolm Sayer, aircraft engineer , the E-Type's performance was better than the XK150.
Specification
In 1964, the 3.8 litre engine was upgraded to 4.2 litre DOHC inline six cylinder engine with 3 SU HD8 carburetors delivering 265 hp for a top speed of 241 kmh. This 1966 model has five-speed manual transmission and four wheel independent suspension.

It's a shame that Jaguar changed its design so much. The new ones all look like everything else mercedes, bmw etc
Now cars are all alike, Jaguar didn't escape to the phenomenon with its purchase by Tata (and even before).
Love it with the top down. The lines are so clean
Beautiful design for this roadster
