Formula One 2019 Bodywork changes just for sponsors?

in #cars7 years ago (edited)

If you have been following F1 for more than a few years, you are probably used to the constant rule changes and idiotic decisions made by the governing body that (try to) run the sport.

Last year we had fins on the back of the cars, prime real-estate for sponsors, but some thought they didn’t look very good and indeed McLaren argued that they obscured the rear wing, another place for sponsors to paint crap on the cars.

Although the fin was good for aerodynamics, it was dropped because apparently no one licked it and it made the cars look bad.

There was a meeting of the F1 Strategy Group this week that has decided to change many parts of the body work to allow sponsors more room to paint their logos on the cars, not to improve racing just to improve revenue.

The bargeboards will be lowered, a mandatory space at the top of the rear wing endplates will be introduced so the logos are not messed up by the aero louvres.

Apparently Pirelli’s Mario Isola has said the sport needs more mechanical grip and less reliance on aero. Most fans would agree.

What about decent tyres with 21st century wheel sizes to make the cars a little more road relevant?

This is what F1 cars looked like before rule changes and sponsors got there hands onto them. Its an old Brabham, from Jack our 3 time Aussie F1 world Champion.

The Image was taken by me, copyright Gyro, you should not see it anywhere else but Steemit, thanks for looking.

As long as it doesn't go the same way as group b, we are all good. Love the old Brabham, tyres, rims and suspension is an interesting idea.

Very true, Liberty seem to be doing everything they can to destroy it! Yeah I threw that in for an example of a pure racing car as a before example, thanks for looking!

Love the picture @gyro and it is my son's favorite colour.

Yeah cool! Thanks for looking.

wow!i never see this kind of car before

Yeah its on old F1 car from the 60's huge tires and lots of power with not much else!

In my opinion, absurd rules are the only things which managed to make F1 a bit ridiculous.. However, we have to agree that due to these strict regulations, the fatalities have been drastically reduced..

I can agree with you the rules are ridiculous. Yes the have improved the safety a lot over the years but just changing the rules for the sake of sponsors is going to far, thanks for looking I appreciate your comment.

Money keeps the world turning, right?
