With demand for "greener" technology more popular than ever, it's surprising that hydrogen fuel-cell cars haven't yet taken off.
All the way back in 2002 General Motors had a fully functional prototype for a brilliant hydrogen fuel-cell car. Because of high production costs, and the limits of then current technology GM's attempt has yet to hit the market.
But luckily for us, Toyota has picked up where GM left off with the Miari.
This car doesn't have the Hy Wire's science fiction styling or amazing drive by wire controls, but it's a solid entry into a market that has incredible potential. What's great about the Miari is it's joined by the Honda Clarity in being available right now (if you don't mind living in California.)
As the performance and range of these hydrogen fuel-cell cars improve, We should see a large increase in both supply and demand for the cars and infrastructure.
What do you think about the future of the transportation field? Would you buy a hydrogen powered car if it became practical in your area?
Yes, I would. My very first car was electric. I learned a lot and would gladly hop into a fuel cell car now (if I could afford one).
I would imagine that they'll become more affordable as the market grows. I'd really love to see some east coast refueling stations.
Yes I would!
That thing looks wicked. It's great to see GM with another h-cell concept in the works.
