With Mercedes, in my honest opinion, and from the plethora of sources I’ve read and looked at, Mercedes still has room to improve with regards to speed. Given their problems, Hamilton was still able to manage the second best speed trap at Jeddah Corniche. Yes during the race you have DRS, but it’s still there nonetheless. With regards to their setup, they are still trying to figure out the cars potential. We are only two races in, and teams have more data on their cars than Merc. So Merc is tinkering around seeing what works and what doesn’t to gain a better picture of their car. Of course if they are able to use the data they have already, and are able to mitigate their problems as such, their speed will definitely increase. To close, it depends on how long it takes, and if they have enough time to tap the potential they believe is in their car.
