Ford Fiesta (September 2017)
Even now, at the end of its life, the current Fiesta is the benchmark for driving fun in the supermini class. But newer rivals, such as the Skoda Fabia and Hyundai i20 offer greater practicality and more sophisticated infotainment systems, so it’s these areas that Ford has concentrated on improving for the new Fiesta. Power will come from a range of small and frugal petrol, including an updated version of the 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol that we currently recommend. The new Fiesta is priced from £12,495.
Ford Fiesta Active (winter 2017)
Alongside the new regular Fiesta will be this new Active model, with 4x4-like body cladding and a raised ride height, adding an SUV impression to the Fiesta's traditional hatchback practicality. Inside, there will be a big new infotainment touchscreen, as with the regular Fiesta, while updates to the suspension promise a more comfortable ride. An entry-level price of around £17,000 is expected for the Fiesta Active.
Hyundai Kona (October 2017)
The third SUV in Hyundai's range is a rival to the likes of the Renault Captur (see below). Adorned with futuristic looks, it's available with 1.0 and 1.6-litre petrol and two 1.6-litre diesel engines. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard. Standard kit includes a 5.0in infotainment touchscreen, six airbags, as well as lane-keeping assistance and a driver attention monitor, while optional kit includes automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, blind spot detection and a rear cross traffic alert. The Kona is expected to cost from around £15,000. .
Jaguar E-Pace (Late 2017)
After the success of its F-Pace large SUV, Jaguar is set to launch a Audi Q3-rivalling model, similar in size to the Range Rover Evoque, called the E-Pace. It's expected to use 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. Jaguar promises a useable and high-quality interior to match the sporty exterior looks. The E-Pace will cost from £28,500.
