History of the Caricature

in #caricature7 years ago

I still believe in the ability of the image to convey ideas more clearly and better than words. This may be due to the ability of some to understand the lines and analyze them faster than understanding the words. There are many incidents in history that help us to understand the ability of the cartoon, for example, Political events change, but no one can deny their influence on the public mood.
But how long has it begun to use caricatures in the form we know today ?, and what is the caricature?
Is it a sketch of the initial lines, sarcastic and contradictory to the person's characteristics or replace the faces in strange forms or animal forms?
If we accept this, what do we find on the walls of the Pharaonic temples, the Greek wine vessels and the Sumerian seals is comics?
Another question before trying to figure out when was the first cartoon sketch ever?
Here is a quick attempt to explore the history of the caricature that I try in the upcoming posts to focus on each experience on the one hand
According to historical studies, the caricature has been associated with man since the dawn of civilizations. In his 1889 report to the Faculty of Humanities in Paris, Borjard shows the pharaonic graces of animals that carry out acts of war or even religious rites as Burjrad explained at the time as a mockery of Ethiopia's separation from the Pharaonic Egyptian rule
Also some of the graphite on the walls of Pompeii or inscriptions on the Greek vessels is considered a kind of caricature in its primitive form, as Socrates and others had mentioned the Pauson with a sarcastic drawing
In the Middle Ages it was popular to use the drawings printed on paper by wooden gravure to provide a scene on political life, religious and social and popular with the use of this printing press
But the use of drawings outside the framework of the books was evident after the reform movement of Martin Luther in 1592, which encouraged opposition to the ecclesiastical systems. Thus, the pamphlets spread out in the streets, consisting of a few pages containing critical texts or revolutionary songs, all accompanied by drawings of the political system or And all without mentioning the name of its authors
In this regard, the fierce caricature campaign against the French king Henri de Valois was preceded by his death in 1589 by a monk. Where his cartoons spread as a murderer, bloody and rapacious.
However, these drawings were not called any name of their own and we have to wait until 1646 when Polish artist Anibal Karash published a comic book in which he mentioned two words of caricature and loads of caricature et charge
The word "caricature" was later reintroduced in the memoir of Argenson in 1740
Caricare is a caricare, which means carrying a charger, which in turn is taken from the word care, which was used by the popular people (in the north of present France). It is a vehicle, but it was also called the sarcastic small sculptures. Charge against a person.
As a result, caricature was associated with the satirical cartoons, which are based on distorted treatment of the form. The atmosphere accompanying the French Revolution was a clear example of the spread, popularity and political use of caricatures. Marie Antoinette was subjected to fierce campaigns that were presented to the public as prostitutes and prostitutes. The conflicting political forces, whether with or against the monarchy, are drawn to ridicule and ridicule. In 1793, the People's Peace Authority (the first body to be formed immediately after the revolution) demanded a plethora of cartoons and cartoons to awaken the spirit of the people and show absurdity. The runner of freedom and republic ...
With the temporary return of the monarchy in July 1830-1848, the caricatures finally took their official position known on the pages of the newspapers, either as a sarcastic fee that presents an idea in itself or as a companion to an article or news.
Thus, the caricature has become a political language used both for criticism of regimes and domination as used for propaganda and political crises have become characterized by the prosperity of caricatures and diversity of ideas
I still have to say that a caricature comics is a drawing of people with strange characteristics, regardless of their absurdity or idea. This confusion continued until 1950, when a description was finally given to it. It is a cynical drawing that uses formal transformations to present an idea or merely exaggerate formal features, As the caricatures of the situation as a scene or fact or fictional shows the attitude or actions of a group of people.
