Hi STEEMians,
Today I would like to share about our very own Caramoan Island.
Caramoan is a first-class municipality in the province of Camarines Sur, Bicol Region, Philippines. It is located at the tip of the Caramoan Peninsula, a rugged place of land extending into the waters of the Maqueda Channel on the north and east and Lagonoy Gulf on the south. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 47,605 people.

The name Caramoan has been officially used since 1619, the year it was named by a Spanish missionary friar, Francisco de la Cruz Y Oropesa. Fr. Oropesa penetrated the thick virgin forest of the Caramoan Peninsula and founded a small settlement in a place called Baluarte. This settlement was subsequently turned over to the administration of the Holy Bishopric in 1696.
Myterious Lake
This lake was in Matukad island one of the things to look forward when you visit Caramoan. Many residents believe that this lake is a magical lake. Why is it mysterious? They said that its been guarded by a magical fairy. What makes it magical? Its the only place where you can find a 2M long milkfish that lives over 4 decades or maybe hundred years old. (Alone)
This is also known as home of survivors, back in 2012 when various franchise of reality show Survivor choose the location as set for its challenges. Paving the way for the place’s tourism growth also give opportunity to the local’s additional source of income for providing homestays, transportation, food, and tours – rappler
Cotivas Island features a long sand bar. It is one of the islands which has nipa huts perfect for lunch time.
It also has a long stretch of fine white sand beach on both sides and is shaded with coconut trees.
The Scenic Guinahuan Island and Liwan Beach of the Caramoan.
Guinahuan island is right beside the Lahuy Island, the largest island in the group of islets among the Caramoan. At the top of a hill is a lone modern lighthouse to which you can trek for a few minutes to have your photo sessions
