Hello fellow Steemians. I have decided to create a regular blog.

have a friend in the cannabis growing business. He and his business partners are having difficulty extracting THC from the trim and have asked for my help. I have no experience with cannabis, but I have experience with manufacturing processes. So I flew out to Oregon to help my friend.

If you don’t already know, the flowering bud is where the majority of THC exists. This is the key molecule that everyone wants from cannabis. The leaves are trimmed from the bud to make a nice perfect saleable product. The left over “Trim” has the THA/THC molecule but in much less amounts. Sometimes the trim is discarded, but can be extracted into various products such as wax, shatter, or oil.

So, my friend had a couple employees that were processing the trim to get shatter. What they should get is something that looks like honey but is somewhat hard, like candy. When bent quickly, the product should break. This is where the name shatter comes from.

Instead of getting nice golden shatter, they would get something different. They cannot produce consistent product. It could be dark tar-like material that never hardens. It could have the consistency of shatter but with very dark color. It could turn out non-transparent and crumbly.

Ultimately the workers are no longer employed because they couldn’t seem to show up for work consistently. Their product was so bad, that in some cases, it just couldn’t be sold.

This is where I come in. I’ve been asked to find a process that is repeatable to get the shatter product they are looking for.

I’m looking for experienced cannabis help and suggestions here on Steemit as I experiment to find a process to get the products my friend is looking for.

The grow lights are off during the night cycle and dim green lights are on. Despite how dark it was during the night cycle, my camera did a really great job capturing these pictures.

Here is the same room during the day cycle. My camera gets really saturated with the intense light.

Here are some outdoor plants being transplanted into larger pots.
