Overwatered Cannabis

Here is an example of too much water.

These plants were transplanted and watered days ago yet one of them is not doing well. I noticed the difference right away and asked the grower what happened. He went out to the plant and found the soil was very wet and overwatered. Apparently, there is a delicate balance between having enough water and too much. This combined with the stress of the recent transplant, the one plant is struggling. Another issue is the location next to the fence which blocks the direct sunlight on the pot for a significant part of the day. This pot is just taking longer to dry out. With smaller pots, it is not as critical because the water will dry out quickly. With these large 100 gallon pots, the water will be retained. The grower said that the large pots don't need to be watered as often, but overwatering can be an issue.

Trays underneath the containers will cause waterlogging if too much water is used.

That is what the grower said too. They are not used to hold moisture. They are actually used to allow the grower to slide the pots as they are too heavy to lift. He actually going to use pallets in the future underneath the pots instead of the kiddie pool.

Oh, such beautiful plants...
Hope it survives the huddles

Just a few suggestions to think about:

  • Why do you use this kind of pots?

Cannabis is (as I know) a deep rooting plant (the roots grow up to 1.5m deep in the ground) and with that in mind I would think that they would need a totally different type of plant pot...

  • How many arms do your plants have?

I would think that the (for sale) usable yield would be better (bigger buds) if the plants have (dependent from the available amount of daylight in your area) only 6 (winter) or 8 (summer) arms. Your plants are looking a little bit too bushy to me meaning that they produce a lot of leaves but very small and less usable buds at the end. In the past I used some cutting technics in the beginning of the plant growth to get 6 or 8 arms full of buds instead of supporting the plant to waste their power in producing too much worthless leaves by doing nothing about it.

If you're satisfied with your yield then please don't care about what I'm writing here but if you aren't then it would be a good idea to think about what I'm suggesting... ;-)

Kind regards

That is great info. I am by no means an expert in the cannabis industry. I know thre are specific trimming processes on indoor grow. Clearly, it is a very important step.

All he had to do was add some fertilizer and water as normal. Imagine if you moved to a new house and got hosed down 😂
