What I experienced when I smoked pot for the first time in 42 years !

in #cannabis7 years ago

Hey everyone,

So I took the plunge & finally smoked pot for my first time ever in 42 years ! I would like to tell you what I experienced, so let's jump right into it ok. ( If you're in a rush I've summarised it for you further down in bullet points ).

Exhibit A

These are the three joints I smoked over the course of 24 hours. I smoked about half of each joint as I was smoking with my girlfriend. It's Sativa Indoor if I'm not mistaken. It was referred to as, "The Good Weed".

Me lighting up

The joint I must say lights up the same as a cigarette. However, I must add, it tastes horrible! Maybe because I'm obviously not used to the taste. But to me it tasted like grass. Dry grass. ( lol you n00b )

After I smoked one joint I told my girlfriend about 20 minutes later, "Babe, I don't feel anything". She replied, "Just relax. Don't focus on what must happen". Then, all of a sudden.....

Yo whatsup bro, like, yo bro... whatsup maaaaaaaaan

It just hit me all of a sudden. I felt slightly dizzy, similar to the feeling of being tipsy from alchohol. I wasn't giggly & I was fully aware of my environment. My hands did have a tingling sensation, I must say. Similar to pins & needles, but not in a bad way.

Oh wait, wait, I took a video also....

The video of me smoking

Here's the thing that really worried me while high... My short term memory, was GONE! I'm not even kidding. I would like be chatting to my girlfriend, and when she replied to me, I was like, "What were we talking about again?". It scared me a bit. To mentally forget the last 4 or 5 seconds every 10 or 15 seconds is to me, a scary experience.

But I didn't panic, I just went with it. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't stop this feeling, so I did feel out of control. But didn't panic. Strangely enough I didn't feel a calming feeling come over me. You know how people say it relaxes you? It didn't do that to me.

I wasn't anxious or stressing, basically just myself. But look at my eyes! Oh my gosh. lol. Not good. When I smoked the other joint the next day, my short term memory was fine. So maybe it was just that first time. (shrug)

We had to drive to fetch someone, & I'll tell you, I'll never drive again while high. It was like roads carried on forever (lol), backing out of my parking space at my apartment was a mission, and I got lost frequently. I would be driving and then literally wouldn't know where I was. If it wasn't for my girlfriend then I most probably would've taken 3 days to get home. lol

What I experienced in a nutshell

  • Dizzy feeling
  • Tingling sensation in my hands
  • Loss of short term memory ( only the first time though )
  • Loss of depth perception
  • Could hold a conversation & was fully aware of my surroundings
  • Libido was increased in a weird way. Weird as in not drunk horny for lack of a better word, but just "on heat". lol
  • Emotions were amplified

The last point meaning that emotions & feelings that were already present in me, would be vocalised to the person I love, like my girlfriend. For instance, if I was feeling ready to get engaged but didn't have the courage to tell her, pot made it easier for me to tell her, and when told, I felt such love towards that person.

Now that you've experienced it, would you smoke on a regular basis?

The short answer is No.

It's not for me. Maybe I should smoke more to experience other effects, but to me, as an individual, I wouldn't explore this option again. I'm glad I did it, it has taught me a lot and more importantly help me understand certain things about pot smoking.

People who smoke I have nothing against. I'll interact with them, socialise with them etc. But for me it doesn't float my boat. I think it has to do with the fact that I like to be in control of a situation, and pot takes that away from me when high.

So there you have it guys, me smoking weed. hahahaha

Feel free to post a comment if you'd like to know something specific when I smoked.

Thank you for reading !

It can be quite scary for those of us who don't do it very often. Thanks for posting that.

You are welcome.

I also like your story even though i m against any type of smoking,, but u have narrated so well your experience that i was laughing while reading your post.
Good post!!! upped

LOL Thank you so much !

I find that there is a period of about 15-20 mins when the cannabis first kicks in which I refer to as the 'golden time' in which I have my best ideas and thoughts. The problems is that due to the short term memory thing you describe, I often forget them. This is frustrating. I read an interesting post the other day by @wolfman80 in which he talks about how he finds it makes him more creative and makes the process of creating content easier. It's interesting because I read about a lot of people who say that cannabis helps them be more creative but also read stuff from Graham Hancock who smoked cannabis all day every day for decades while writing books on various subjects. He became dependent and didn't think he could be creative without it. It wasn't until he tried stronger psychedelics which made he realise how dependent he was and how it was affecting his life negatively that he stopped smoking and took control and realised he could work just as well without it. Cannabis is a great drug with many beneficial uses for all sorts of ailments but it can definitely have negative consequences if not used in moderation. Like any drug I suppose.

Good post. Upvoted/Following and will look forward to your future posts.

This means a lot to me, thank you so much !

i'm in a hurry to leave... but i'll keep this tab open for later... the pics have already been epic!

see you later broooo, I'll sit and smoke one while I enjoy the read later!

Johnny Cash High

LOL no worries.

Thx for the humerous comment :)

gonna try it and post info here :D

hehehehe you should !

Good post! Upvoted and followed!

Thank you so much. Greatly appreciated !

Thanks for posting an update. I still respect your open-mindedness towards it even though it's not for you. Honestly, the indica strains are more relaxing. Sativas give you more of a mind buzz and more energy.

Did you try any food while doing it?! That's the best part!!

I did "kinda" have the munchies, but not a lot.

yo man buy a bong or a glass bowl to smoke from it gets you more stoned with less weed then you can fully finish your review by trying all the methods of smoking and you can also try out all the different strains. BTW great post man!

Thx Bro :-)

Dem doobies doe! Need a better roll, more enjoyable.

Are they not rolled up to par? lol I'm n00b with this

LOL ya they are meh hahaha -- maybe its how broken up, need a fine grain but not too fine, comes with practice... err not that i know anything about that ;-)

pass it here.. 🚬🚬🚬

Glad nothing bad happened

You're welcome :)

Didn't know it would affect my driving in such a way! lol

I was waiting for this! i wondered when you were gunna go through with it... told you it gives you an odd feeling... im not sure how so many people are obsessed with it, i didnt feel like myself when i smoked and hated not being in control

true true

Thank you for the comment

lol, i think you've experienced how high you can go :p

congrats 😀

Thank you Sir bows down

I think you did it in a right way :P :D

Thank you :-)

Was afraid I'd mess it up lol

hahah! i think so you enjoyed it little bit :P

Well we all had our first time, isn't it?
Funny do, I had the same problem with memory loss 10_15 seconds with something else
Scarry shit
Keep it up

Thank you :-)

You are welcome

i also have never smoked it , though my buddies are regular to this. Thanks for the review :D

You are welcome Sir

I have a medical marijuana card and I hate it. Was supposed to be a safer alternative to all the Opiates I have to take. I don't like the lack of control, it most definitely does not relax me. Even though it is now legal here (Las Vegas) recreationally, I am going to keep my medical licence. Sometimes it does help with the pain, but it really isn't my thing either.

Thanks for sharing!

I experienced pot and was like

I suggest you to try once more, maybe not today or tommor, but in the near future. I experienced a similar effect the first time I smoked and didn't want to smoke again. My exectations were very high since all my friends where just like " you'll love it Steve, c'mon". When I hit it again some time later it was an incredible experience. I laught so hard for the whole night. It was a strange kind of happiness. I couldn't even look at my friends that I would just laugh so much for every expression they made.
Glad you tried it though! Looking forward to hear more from you on steemspeak :)

Thank you my friend. Looking forward to chatting to you again.

A slower and steadier pace of smoking might be better. Say like a hit off a bowl once every thirty minutes. Too much too fast is almost going to result in negative or unwanted effects.

Its analogous to alcohol in many aspects.. Trying wine coolers to get the subtle effect as opposed to taking a few shots..

Just some food for thought!

Thank you for the comment Sir

Dude, driving while stoned is a very bad idea. Being a passenger on the other hand, is lots of fun :)

Hey condra :-)

Yes, definitely not driving again like that.

Nice post, I enjoy smoking and i feel relaxed doing so. Check out my post on some Fun Facts

Cool post! Always nice to hear drug related experiences, how they interact differently from person to person ☺ good job mate #minnowtowhale

Thank you so much for this. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Great post. I tend to have the same issues wheb ever i smoke any of it and friends have completely different reactions. It seems to hit everyone different. I'm glad to see im not the only one that gets hit that way.

& glad to see I AM not the only one hahahaha

Thank you

Did they realy empty some siggs and stufed them with weed ?
I hope they changed the filter .
The white magnesium paper and possibly a cigarettes filter would
ruin the taste and block a lot of thc .

Take a big rolling paper a hand rolled thick paper filter, some tabaco and about 0.7 grams of weed . Join all by handrolling it . thats a joint :-)

Like i kind off predicted , your fear of loosing control dos not want you to go there again ;-)

Hello :)
Yea, I don't like not being in control.

Loose the fear m8 , be free :-)

Dope post man, no pun intended!
At least you tried it and you know it's not for you, its quite an experience :)
Thanks for sharing bro!

You are most welcome. I shared so maybe other first timers could get some kind of idea what to expect.

Great post awesome! Upvoted and followed!

This means so much to me that it entertained you.

Thank you !

I'm glad you took the plunge! That being said, the things you said that you didn't like are almost all associated with a heavy sativa(arguably the most popular sativa strain right now is called "Green Crack.") It is not the type of herb one smokes if they just want to relax and have a good time and laugh. I started smoking herb 22 years ago, and I've had sativas in the last year where I've ordered a pizza, smoked a joint, and then freaked out 15 mins later when the pizza showed up because I'd forgotten about ordering it. Amongst those that enjoy sativas this is considered a good thing, and you learn to gain more "control" over it with more frequent use. Most people who like sativas smoke during the day and like that they don't make you as tired. I would try a heavy indica if you enjoyed it at all before writing it off. Again, I know a lot about this and am glad to be of service if you have questions.

Wow, awesome comment. Thank you so much. I will definitely come back to you if I need advice :)

The short term memory problem and the visual perception thing will get much better after some practice. I promise. Try again some time :)

Mmmm..... That explains why people I know who smoke a lot don't struggle with that.

Good post. I appreciate your honest thoughts and experience. I saw you posting about how you were thinking about it a few days ago and im glad i caught this post too.

You are welcome.

I never did, but i see you had fun :)

hehehehe, it was an experience yes

Interesting. You said that you were scared but didn't panic, doesn't that mean you were sort of 'calm'?

Also I think a few other people may have mentioned it, but if you ever try marijuana again, I've heard that indica is more relaxing than Sativa. Sativa is more of a stimulant. Of course I've never smoked so I have no experience, but from lots of research most people say if they want to relax they go with indica strains.

I quickly found an article that explains the difference between the two strains pretty well, if you are interested.

https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/sativa-indica-and-hybrid-whats-the-difference-between-cannabis-ty

Thank you for sharing your story. I would like to share with you that each strain may effect you differently. A Sativa is usually more of a cerebral high and can put some people into a place of anxiety. For those who regularly use Sativa, we tend to feel uplifted and creative.

Also, the short term memory loss gets better over time as you use it more regularly. The first month of using Cannabis, it takes a bit to actually get use to it. So it may have been a bit strong for you. After a while though, you will get more use to the dosage and the effects lessen that are uncomfortable.

When I first started using cannabis, I use to have what I called "Time Dilation" Time felt distorted and 1 hour felt like 4. After a few months of regular use, that went away.

I would recommend you try again, but smoke less per session and try and use it a little bit each day for 30 days. I bet at the end of the 30 days, you will feel much different about it's use. Also try some other strains. Indica is more of a body high and way more relaxing. May even put you to sleep comfortably.

Mmmm, you make some good points.

As for me trying it again... I'm still thinking about it.

Next time turn on some avant-garde jazz or some nice relaxing downtempo. Sit and listen and let yourself off. It's very interesting to meditate on sound while high, you can easily divide the composition into separate instruments and layers.

Thats good stuff!

Was curious to see the update! Well done for doing the review but man...driving after, especially when you don't fully know how it affects you, that's just a big no no in my book. Glad nothing happened.

I won't be a hypocrite and admit I've done it before as well; the first time it was during a driving lesson, figured that would be the safest way to see how it affects me; I've done it a few times after I passed my test as well but not in years; the safety and legal risks are just too high for me.

Yea dude, driving, definitely a NO NO !

love your story!

Aaaaw, thank you so much for those kind words <3

Haha this is nice. I've never smoked before and not planning either and you just gave a very precise description and how it feels like. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome Sir

It didn't relax you because it was a Sativa. They are known for a "head high" and energetic effects but sometimes gives anxiety more often than Indica which does have a seriously relaxing effect... try Indica! Do it, do it, do it...JK

42 years and still sober....never been drunk and don't smoke anything. Anyhow, it's almost time to go tuck my plants in for the night lol

Probably not the best idea to try driving your first time :P

LOL I know right! lol

Thank you for the comment.

I know what you mean when you say it makes it easier for one to share feelings etc...If I do something really nice, my wife always asks me if I'm high! haha

Hehe, I never let noobs smoke sativa, especially if it top quality bud.

Try an indica next time!

Out of curiousity, what made you want to smoke?
