Vegas is an internationally renowned city and has a reputation for its shopping, gambling, entertainment options, nightlife venues, dining variety, and a whole lot more.
Officials in the state have seemingly been able to handle all of that; the gambling and the partying all night etc, but they allegedly have growing concerns for the arrival of cannabis cafes to the area.
Medical cannabis dispensaries in the state have already started selling recreational cannabis to those in the area who are over the age of 21. And it's estimated that there are about 60 different dispensaries that are located in the state right now.
Vegas has joined along with 7 other states in the US that have moved to allow recreational cannabis use: Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and others.
Right now, the state has afforded people with the freedom to legally be able to purchase up to 1 ounce of marijuana, or one-eight of an ounce of edibles or concentrates.
And with Vegas already being hailed as the ultimate party town, it only seemed fitting that they'd eventually make the change to allow people there the freedom to consume cannabis if they wish to.
However...
Despite the move to make changes to allow now for recreational cannabis use, not everyone is happy about it and ready to accept it. The Governor of Nevada, Brian Sandoval, recently expressed his own concern for the potential for cannabis cafes to pop up around town.
He says that there is a concern that these cannabis lounge venues will invite unwanted scrutiny from the federal level. He's allegedly insisted that he would like the attorney general to render their verdict in the matter and what the AG office thinks about the potential for cannabis cafes.
If they are successful in making the change to allow for the cafes, then Nevada could become the first state in the US that legally allows for people to consume cannabis in clubs, cafes, and lounges etc.
Officials in the state are still in the midst of trying to sort out their rules on it, and there is still a decent bit of confusion as to the interpretation of the rules and whether or not there is permission for cannabis cafes to go ahead and set up shop in the area.
These details will likely get worked out in the weeks to come and Nevada very well might be the first to bring the US down the road of embracing the cannabis cafe culture on a new level.

Hahaha - Hard to imagine Las Vegas getting their undies in a bunch over this!!
haha right!
I say why not be allowed to consume cannabis in a cafe !? Your pretty well allowed to do everything there ! Haha ! But its ok to drink toxic alcohol till all hours and kill yourself that way though ! I do like my beer haha! They are always trying different ways to get people to go to Vegas and spend all their money , Look at the new hockey team they now have starting this year ! I say its just a matter of time before this happens in Vegas , and why not try to be the first to do it !?!? Great post my friend !! Upped and resteemed as @momskitchen because it does have to with food/ edibles and cafes !! 😋😋😋😋👍👍
THIS COOL CAT KNOWS ALL ABOUT CANNABIS CAFES !! HAHA MEOW!!🐈🐱
I also upped and resteemed @doitvoluntarily !! Haha ! 💕✌👍
People get so worked up over this.. Here in the Netherlands we have had 'cannabis cafe's' (we call them coffeeshops) for years and the impact on society has been extremely minimal. As opposed to alcohol establishments there is almost no trouble from cannabis serving establishments.. Generally the visitors are too high to cause any trouble, and owners of the establishment are strictly regulated so will do their utmost best to adhere to the rules.
yeah with alcohol u have people getting drunk and violent but with cannabis serving bars u have people just getting high and less violent hahah BUT maybe it will help alcohol bars to serve cannabis because now when u have a smoking lounge to smoke probably outside it will allow people who are drunk to get REALLy fucked up when they get high too hahah some peopel get REALLy fucked up like that
The idea that people will loose their shit over some 'cannabis cafe's is nuts really.
The water situation out there in the desert would concern me quite a bit more.
I agree!

I have to say, the attitude toward cannabis is quite ironic. All (or just about) states have been fighting tobacco tooth and nail, but now they want to legalize pot. I know the latter has known medical uses, but it's still a DRUG (note: I'm all for recreational heroin)
uhm sugar is a drug.. caffeine is a drug..alcohol is a drug.. and i'd say that sugar is much more detrimental to your health than cannabis when consumed in large quantities over an extended period of time. Nobody has ever died from an overdose of cannabis. Don't be against cannabis because it's a 'drug' that's silly, there are plenty of "legal drugs" out there that kill thousands of ppl every year.
I'm not against it (although I never as much as tried one puff).
However, it seems that proponents of its legalization/decriminalization are acting as if pot were inoffensive. I don't know how solid the science is, but consuming it at a young age seems to affect mental development and cause psychoses.
Cannabis Relieves a Significant Number
of issues, both physical and mental. People become addicted to the relief cannabis brings to their issues. Remove the issue and the cannabis addiction evaporates. This is not addiction and cannabis is not addictive. Yes, being a troubled teen with parents who "just don't understand" can lead to finding relief through using cannabis. The escape can just as easily be video games, surfing, downhill skateboarding or skiing. The point is it isn't addictive, it's a pain reliever. Like taking ibuprofen every day for arthritis.
Not All Cannabis is the Same
Due to pressures on breeding, mainly from prohibition, the number of debilitating strains of cannabis available today is quite impressive. With the discovery of the cannabinoid called Cannabidiol (CBD), the number of functional strains of cannabis is increasing.
Yes, I grow a specific type of cannabis which improves memory, focus, mood-control and clarity of thought. These types of cannabis strains exist and represent what cannabis is truly capable of. As legalization becomes less restrictive, people are free to talk and the truth begins to flow. Where the truth about cannabis spreads, sanity slowly follows after. ;)
Mental Development?
Yes, heavy indica use can temporarily disrupt mental development. When no cannabis or functional cannabis is used instead, cognitive ability returns to normal.
Functional strains of cannabis do not inebriate or cause mental issues. Psychosis is only something to be wary of if your family has a history of it. Some pure THC strains (and Marinol(tm) a synthetic THC) can cause manic episodes in anyone, when massive amounts are used. Those prone to schizophrenia will react at lower doses.
Cannabis should be the first line defense medicine for infants and children. When used responsibly, they represent zero danger to their mind or body.
Go Be Awesome! :D
anything that interacts with you on a mental lvl will do so/ till about the age 25 is what they now are assuming is the last major time of brain development
rec smack huh.... search for some 35 year old bottles of cough syrup... we did that in the USA already.
i find it funny that so many of you are surprised. Think about the fact that residents are getting tax revenue. but the truth is most people buying weed in Nevada are tourists. most people except the use of marijuana but dont actually care for people to be out in public when high as a kite
thats funny because a lot of ppl roam the streets of vegas drunk out of their minds! lol
coming from Wisconsin alcohol is instilled into our culture at such a young age that a lot of ppl see nothing wrong with it were as we were told all our life the weed was this gate way drug.
You are one Talented people

Good info! Medical Cannabis is just getting off the ground here in Arkansas, with 322 applications submitted for the 37 facilities to be licensed to grow and distribute. The fact that cafes are coming into existence is a pretty good indicator that things are swinging the direction of doing away with prohibition. Now if congress will just get their act together and get it off the Schedule 1 list and get in step with the will of their constituents. We can hope, can't we?
I need to go to Vegas!
