Stoner Secretly Grows Cannabis in Glastonbury Council’s Hanging Baskets... For 18 YEARS!

A cannabis-advocate in Glastonbury says that he has been growing the plant in the town's prize-winning public flower display secretly for at least 18 years. The planter of the seeds happens to be a business owner and a campaigner, known as Free Cannabis; which was the name he chose by deed poll back in 1997.

It wasn't only him, he says that there were others will him as well who were planting the seeds outside of his shop. He said that they would come by and simply drop some seeds into the flower tub and then those seeds would get “watered by nature” says the advocate.

“I am amazed that people get so excited about this, it’s a sad reflection of society’s hemp-phobia... This is a plant that has so many medicinal qualities - it’s a food, it’s used for fibre and fuel, it basically gives you everything you need,... It's insane that a plant that is so beneficial..is illegal... I just want to live in a world in which the plant is honored and respected and grown freely,” he said.

After the police received a complaint from someone over the plant it wasn't long before it was removed. And Free Cannabis says it's both sad and shocking that there is such a “hemp-phobia” over this plant in society today.
