Hello, and welcome to my cannabis blog!
A few weeks ago when I trimmed the big leaves from my Cannatonic plant, I decided to dry them in my food dehydrator so that I could try using them for tea. The Cannatonic variety is supposed to be a high CBD, low THC plant, and I wanted to try the leaves for tea to see if it would have any effect on my body aches.
These are some of the leaves that I picked off the plant.
I dried them in this dehydrator.
After they were dry, I decided to put them in one of my old blue glass mason jars so that I could have a relatively air tight seal with a canning lid on the jar.
I let the leaves sit in the jar for a couple of weeks, mostly because I forgot about them. A few days ago I decided to try using them to make tea with. I made a tea using an herbal tea for flavor and using a tea ball for the leaves to make a combination tea. I use one of those spring loaded tea balls, they're pretty easy to use. The herbal tea that I like to use is called Victory Tea, it's produced by "Native American Herbal Tea, Inc"
I like the flavor of the herbal tea and I can tell that the cannabis leaves are in there, but their flavor not overpowering. As for the effects, there's no buzz that I could notice, and I'm pretty much a light weight when it comes to a buzz. I think it had some effect on my body, it seems to relax me somewhat, and it seems to lower the level of aches and pains a bit. It doesn't do much for the nerve pain in my hip, but I didn't expect that it would.
I think I'm going to try chopping up the leaves instead of trying to jam them into the tea ball more or less whole. I'm sure I can get more into the tea ball if they're chopped up. I also need to do a bit of research on better ways to use them for making tea, or tincture.
That's all I have for this post, thanks for checking it out!
Very cool experiment!
reminds me of this cool little video. I would love your tea with a side of these deep friend canna leaves
Let it sit in the jar for 6 weeks to let the chlorophyll degrade...
Great job!
Oh, good idea! Of course, I'll be using it anyway, but I'm sure I won't use it all up that fast.
Yep. And maybe slow drying like herb?
You can always make up a few batches soon and see how it works.
And I was also told root balls... Cleaned dried and ground up. Then tea...
Useful plant! And alot of oil in it.

How is the taste?
It's kind of hard to say, it doesn't taste like you would expect cannabis to taste like because of the combination with the other herbal tea blend. You do get a bit of the "green" taste, but not very strong.
I've made cannabis tea before too! I ground up stems and leaves after they were dry.
Then I just boiled them in some water and strained it.
I did not add any actual tea to it though...
I bet if you used a nice chamomile/lavender blend with it, that would be really good for a bedtime tea
I'm guessing that would be a really good bedtime tea!
My great grandmother from mexico used to let a few leaves soak in alcohol then she would rub the alcohol on her achy joints. Who know if its just the alcohol working or if some thc was extracted into the liquid to help the pain.

Who knows, sometimes those old remedies actually work.
I think they do. My relatives still do this
Good leaf tea making ...
