Lough Shannagh Wild Camp in the Mourne Mountains

in #camping4 months ago

Been up the Mourne Mountains again for another wild camp. Decided to head to head to the largest man-made body of water in the mountains called Lough Shannagh. From the carpark, it was an 8.3k hike to get there with a full backpack. The visibility I had was so very bad and the fog was very low the whole time, I could barely see 20 meters in front of me and the terrian was boggy and slippy. If I never had OS maps on my phone, I'd have got lost 100%.

Im seeing the weather is going to be much better in a few days and I plan to head back to this spot but the other side of the lough where there's a small beach or heading to a summit that is close by. Im going to check out both when im there and pick the best.

Got to love that weather buddy. Loving this series of wild camping, makes me want to get out in it too.

You should go for it, there are lots of class places in Wales to wild camp. For £200-300, you could get everything you need and then you'll have it to use over and over.
