Greetings!
I am excited about this week's contest as I have traveled extensively in the Pacific regions and really love the lifestyle there. Photography is not only a fun and beautiful creative outlet, but it is such a great way to share the world with others!
There is so much to learn about the "real world" by traveling outside of common tourist areas. I love to experience it first hand, meet the people, taste the food, and get into the local culture.
Gratitude to @daveks for hosting these contests, as it provides not only an outlet for photography but also a way to connect and share with new Steemians! Thanks to @boxcarblue for taking the time to judge this contest! Special thanks to @papa-pepper for sponsoring this contest, but even more so for the countless contributions he has made to the success of this community for a year now!
Let's get on with the photos!
While there are some big developed cities in the parts I visited, most of the cities and towns are still very similar to how they have been for a long time. It is still common to have handmade, human powered carts with fresh local food on the side of the streets. There are very few chain or corporate operations. There are not hardly even any stores with a sign or logo! It's just regular people making a living in simple ways. Family operations out of the home or on the front sidewalk are common as the families eat, sleep, and run business all together out of the same building.
This man's entire business here consists of just one handmade wooden cart which he pushes to the street and sets up every day, making just enough money to buy some food that is NOT bananas and keep him self moderately clothed.
Hope you all enjoy this photo and feel something from it.
I took this photo with a Canon T2i and used a 2.8 canon zoom lens.
Wonderful photo. I think what is great about your shot is that it helps people understand the world and make sense of other cultures. I am currently in the Philippines right and they have a lot of people here that also sell fruit and other goods the same way. Thank you so much for helping others to gain another perspective in other people's lives.
Thank you for the support and the comment. I agree and I always try and share photos that have some kind of wisdom, life lesson or knowledge. With every post I make I try and contribute real value to this community and the world.
Yes, I definitely agree with that. From looking at your other posts, you definitely do add value to everything you do.
Thank you for exploring and recognizing. It means a lot to me!
Photography can only represent the present. Once photographed, the subject becomes part of the past.
I love that you are sharing about other peoples cultures! I get curious about that kind of stuff! Great photo :)
Thanks so much!
I am grateful you appreciate the looks into real culture around the world. I really want to start posting series of photographs with story from cultures as I have been to some very real and unique places around the world where I get precious moments on camera. Trying to make more time for Steemit but I have so many projects and responsibilities.
Your support really inspires me though to share more of this as I greatly respect your participation in the growing success of Steemit.
Hope to make more posts than u enjoy!
Steem ON!
hahaha most of these street people actually do use paper or coin fiat, don't even have a clue about crypto let alone the tech to offer or accept it haha
:))
What a great photo---and oh so true the scenario behind it. This really captures the feeling of the moment of their everyday existence. The textures and contrasts in lighting give this photo a lot of depth and balance. I appreciate the air you caught with your lens @quinneaker. Sweet entry!
Thanks for the compliment as u are quite magical with the lens ur self!
I've had an INCREDIBLE subject!!!!
hahahahahaha what a life we have had indeed!
An unbelievable journey!!!! I'm so grateful to be me!
Great shot and nothing better than a place unaffected by the corporate world! Where was this taken? Reminds me of the markets and stalls on the road here in Cambodia. Simplicity.... and even though they can often not afford new clothes and live in a shack, most of them are the happiest people in the world (although they often don't know it themselves). The more you have the more your worry I assume... have a beautiful day ;)
You are SOO right. I was actually just thinking how this looks just like cambodia but its far east India.
I was really amazed how much happier people generally were while simultaneously having SOOO much less.....Makes one ponder. Thankfully I have pondered and invested in happiness not stuff!
Never had the chance to visit India, but it is definitely high on the to-travel list. And I'm also happy to have invested in happiness rather that stuff. My life still fits into two suitcases.. hehe! Enjoy the rest of your day ;)
WOW!
Two suitcases? Impressive! I have lived with less than that for periods of time but now I have houses worth of stuff! hahahahah though I am fully at peace with no attachment and use it all to progress many peoples lives so its working for me!
We have some (actually quite a lot) kitchen stuff from the Japanese recycle shop but that can all go to the neighbors once we decide to leave. Furniture comes with the house! So that easy... so the essentials I cannot leave behind are 2 suitcases and a box for the cat... :-) and my hubby has about the same.... Not easy though to not collect more stuff! I'm sure once we have found our spot we will start collecting things again too!
Yea....Well as long as ur not attached to it and have your priorities straight its all good! U can do whatever u want whenever. If that means more stuff then so be it, it if means more stuff then great!
Its nice to be free and empowered~*~
super nice to have you back !
Thanks! Nice of u to notice =)>
I have so many responsibilities and projects going plus some unforeseen dangers. Hope to get some posts going here!
In this photograph there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality.
The camera makes you forget you’re there. It’s not like you are hiding but you forget, you are just looking so much.
Yes, in the present moment of being now~*~
I loved photography......
Me too!
There is so much beauty in this world and photography is one of the best ways to remember and share it!
Very good :))
Thanks!

great post ! :-)
Thank you very much! Hope to be entering a photo contest almost daily as I have so many photos from round the world in unique places!
I do mostly street photography too! What do you use to make it BNW?
Any good camera will have a b&w photo setting, even an iPhone. Also any decent photo editor will be able to change any color into b&w.
yes I know any photo editor will able to do the B&W effect, but I want to know what do you use particularly?
The post said that I used a canon t2i of which has multiple settings including a b&w setting. I also used a 2.8 canon zoom lens like in the photo at top.
so you shoot completely in B&W? Because I would've shot in a normal mode then convert it later.
Most of the time I don't shoot in B&W unless there is a specific reason to do so, especially with how easy it is to convert. Though approaching photography from a perspective of making it in B&W is a different mind set. Lots of color photos don't look so great black and white.
I thought so too. B&W isn't easy, the highlight of the subject is really important.
How much would a bunch of bananas cost, if you don't mind my asking?
it really depends on where u are and what season but at this particular time about 10 cents a lb. Also its usually more expensive for westerners. Kinda like cultural inside agreements to always charge westerners more.
Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. Unless you bartering skills are way powered up.
hahahahah
