This powerful electrical storm is dumping heavy rain on the high terrain of the Mogollon rim as well as the mountainous rock formations and canyons below. A monsoon thunderstorm such as this which is occurring in Sedona Arizona can drop as much as 3" to 4" of rain an hour and if it remains stationary will probably cause flash flooding. This photo was shot using a Canon A-2E using film.

Wow.. Epic shot! Looks really awesome with the black and white! Definitely very ethereal feeling and there's a ton of depth!
Also.. I noticed something kinda weird.. next to the lightning bolt on the right, it looks like there's a little light on top of the rim? Do you know what that is? I don't remember any lights or buildings being up there..?
Was that perhaps a fire that had started from a prior bolt? Or just a glitch and an image artifact maybe..?

Thanks Paul I agree. I don't know what that light source is. There are no roads or buildings up there and its not an artifact on the film. That doesn't leave much.

It's scary but it looks spectacular. That's the bad thing about storms: floods.
Yes there's both of those things along with thrill. Floods happen so one must use caution. It can be very exciting at times.
