“First of all, thank you everyone for your lovely contributions and of course @daveks for selecting us to judge this week’s contest! We saw plenty of cool images and it was honestly really hard to choose from! It was very interesting to see how people approach the ‘Life’ theme and capturing it in so many different ways. We tried to kind of judge also the technical quality of the images as well as the extent to which we think it fits in this week’s theme. It was a splendid experience, we had a lot of fun, and we will certainly send our own entries to future contests, and why not participate again someday as judges! Congratulations to the winners!”

How are you liking your new camera?
It's very nice! Much better performance in low light conditions and 42MP (4x what I had before) is fantastic!
I picked up the same camera, just waiting to head to the Rockies this summer!

It is not a matter of luck @vanj - We carefully looked into ALL entries, and it was a struggle for us to choose.
Firstly, because the theme is so wide (but we chose pictures in the theme), but also because we considered technical details and artistic view. Also, some participants, even though they used the tag, they failed to comply with other rules (not you, generally speaking) so we had to look into that.
Because of the broadness of the theme there were maaany participants and we tried to be as fair as possible!
I hope you liked the final selection though, even if you didn't make it :/ Maybe next time! Thanks for participating!!! ;)

We certainly saw these entries @vanj ! I just couldn't find them now on your blog because the first tag wasn't bwphotocontest so I thought it's not this post - but we did see them when selecting for the contest, because you did use the tag (even though not as first tag) bwphotocontest, we just went for other submissions instead. Those did catch our eye though, for sure! Congrats! :D
That winning umbrella shot is very cool, shrouded in mystery, and it makes you want to know what it is you can't see!!!
