RE: Chromium's Butterfly/Insect Day Steem Giveaway - 200 STEEM up for grabs !!!!

in #butterflyday5 years ago (edited)

Hi,
I've been following this contest every week and love @whatisnew, but I'm not a photographer, nor am I an artist. I've never had the courage to actually enter. However, I have been tempted. Today I found a picture at this Harvard.edu site. The butterfly,
Heliconius xanthocles3 Archaeodontosaurus 4.0.jpg
looked like something I could try to approximate. So I began drawing, chalking and digitalizing.

First I sketched a butterfly, then tried to fill in color with chalk.

I scanned that image into my computer.

After that, I spent a lot of time (I'm retired he he) blending, coloring, comparing, resizing. Finally I came up with something I liked, although it only vaguely resembled Heliconius xanthocles.

This picture represents my entry into your contest:

I wasn't going to post this in a blog, because I was a little embarrassed by the poor skill level. However, when I saw that you invited us to drop our entry as a comment, I figured, why not?

Thanks so much for running this contest. My alternate blog was about a rather unpleasant disease (which I will return to). This was a lovely break.

Congratulations on your '60' and your 'dolphin' status!

You are so creative! You should name this beautiful, one-of-a kind butterfly "The Agmoore." : ) I love it and love you too! : )

Hello, dear friend @whatisnew,
Thank you. This butterfly is one of a kind :)) You can see I had great fun playing with chalk and the computer. All to get my imprecise, but rather attractive (I think😁) creature.

I love your bee in flight. How do you capture these images? And I love that you can identify everything you photograph!
Have a most wonderful, richly creative day.

Your not-very-talented, but enthusiastic friend,
AG

What? You ooze with talent AG!

Capturing anything in flight takes many, many photos to hopefully just get one that is not a total blur.

Keep the enthusiasm going, my friend. : )
