My cooking lesson at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok - 1 of 3

The cooking school at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, led by Chef Narain Kiattiyotcharoen, is an icon in town. The school has given lessons to hundreds of thousands of cooking enthusiasts from around the world since the mid 1980s. Chef Narain told me that Jay Chou had his cooking lesson at the cooking school too.

I took the BTS skytrain, got off at Sanphan Taksin station and jumped onto a shuttle boat to the cooking school. The school is across the main building Mandarin Oriental Bangkok on the other side along the River Chao Phraya

The school is inside a single-storey house, which is in a lush and peaceful garden.

A patio for restaurant goers who want outdoors dining (The school is adjacent to a Thai restaurant that can host a large crowd of people indoors and outdoors)

For students not in the first row, they may have problems following the lecture. This overhead mirror is a great helper.

Two ladies and I dined at that beautifully decorated table after the lesson. Three of us took the lesson.
