Market Friday: Indian shopping center in Bangkok,

in #busy6 years ago

This is my entry for #marketfriday hosted by the very optimistic and compassionate @dswigle. Last weekend I did stumble on the Indian shopping center in Bangkok. The bus I took for the other destination had to end its journey as all roads ahead were closed for official rehearsal of parades. So, I just walked along the road of the old quarter of Bangkok. I found a Sikh temple before I saw the entrance to the Indian shopping center.

By the time I got to this shopping center, several shops have started to close as this place would normally close at 6.30 pm. Only those big shops on the ground floor were still open for customers. This center concentrates on imported Indian costumes, clothes, jewelries and instruments for Indian shrine rooms. I was quite surprised by those bright and elaborated dresses and jewelries.

Some shops stock beautiful laces from Korea and Japan at very reasonable prices; there are also specially reduced prices for discontinued types of laces. Some of my friends wound go wild for colourful cheap laces.

What parade was there last week? The Sikh temple is so very ornate and beautiful! The architecture is stunning.

Oh, wow! I can see how you would love the Indian Shop, the merchandise they had was so detailed and very chic looking. The dresses are worn only in the Indian Shrine Rooms?

They almost looked like wedding gowns some of them! Truly gorgeous! I can say that I would love one for myself! :)The lace was exquisite, wasn't it?

Is that the jewelry that goes with it?

An absolutely fabulous post, @kaminchan! Thank you so much for sharing this beauty with us. So much time you spend taking pictures and making your post! Thank you !!!

Oh! Thank you very much for reminding me Sbout the link!
Glad you enjoy these colourful Indian shops! I think some of them could be wedding gowns. But these Indian ladies do dress up nicely when going to parties or luncheon functions. Those jewelries are imported from India but they are not 100% gold, more for their costumes. But the rich ladies always wear real diamonds and gold jewelries!!

Some silk and cotton clothes would be quite okay in this hot climate!

Thank you for the tip!
Cheers.
