we have to believe that violence only brings another violence like it, and that blood will only bring devastation and endless destruction, and we have to walk on the paths of nonviolence and choose peace as our creed

I believe this too. Violence only begets more violence. The cycle needs to be broken in order for peace to take hold and grow.
