The pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti) is one of the best examples of mimicry. It measures only 2cm and is easily confused with the gorgonia in which it lives. The effectiveness of the mimicry is so high that the species was not discovered until one of its host gorgonians was examined in the laboratory.
