The biggest fashion companies in the world have managed to lower the prices of clothes in recent years, but this has a heavy human price! Not only in Third World countries.
But also in the developed world.
Our clothes cost more than a thousand lives!
Who really pays the price for the clothes we wear ?!
Once we wore clothes that cheap and simple, once we would wear every item for years but now replace every few days a garment on H&M so someone pays the price, the question is who pays the price ...?

Statistics show that every sixth person in the world is some how connected to the fashion industry!
Many of these factories are located in third world countries, India, Thailand, Indonesia and so on.
The data shows that as more fires have broken out because of chemicals in fashion factories, fashion companies have become increasingly profitable.
In the year when the most fires broke out in fashion factories because of chemicals, fashion companies became more and more wealthy.
The price of environmental pollution is also very large!
The data show that the fashion industry is number 2 in environmental pollution!
We can see how much it would cost to produce a certain garment in Zara in the US and how much it cost to produce it in Bangladesh 355% difference more to make the same cloth.

Is the principle missing here.
Overpopulation and the opening of many country's labor markets pushed down wages globally, the reduction of tariffs has seen these low wages get exploited by multi-national corporations for profit, and in the end the consumer overpays, lines the pockets of millionaires and billionaires, wears it a few times and tosses it out, adding to the tons of waste in energy, resources and man-hours necessary to sustain this terrible business model. We should consume in a way that is aligned with a healthy, sustainable growth of our planet and peoples or we will all share the same sad fate.
es cierto en los ultimos años la industria textil se a masificado ya que la evoluciona trae cambio, cada vez año innovan algo para los consumidores y la demanda cada vez es mayor, la industria se hace cada vez mas rica percibiendo mas del 70 % de las ganancias.... pero el gran problema el la cantidad de químicos utilizados para los textiles ya que terminan desechando al medio ambiente todas estas sustancias sin pensar en los daños que causaran que en oportunidades son irreversibles, tanto para la fauna y flora y en algunos casos los humanos...

We have regular clothing swaps here in Gothenburg where everyone just brings a lot of clothes and exchange with each other. Great way to meet and get new clothes and let your old one find a new owner.
There's a lot of good second hand stores here where you can find really nice affordable clothes. There are such an abundance of clothes so I see no need of buying them new at this point...
Even if I don't buy any new clothes I don't wear certain things like jeans to avoid normalizing it as the way it's being produced is really bad for the environment...

עוד חשש שיש לחשוב עליו הוא שגם הכנסת עוד מכונות לתהליך הוא אמנם פתרון בשביל החברות הגדולות, אבל זה גורם להמון עובדים עניים להיות מפוטרים - ככה שעוד מכונות לא בהכרח מיטיב עם העובדים - הם מאבדים את מקום העבודה שלהם :(

I think it is about time to get used to hemp clothing and work on great machines that can produce clothes from scratch. Maybe even customizable with new 3d printers.would be nice at least
For businesses, they will pretty much always look for ways to increase their profit margins. Even more with public companies that have shareholders. So of course companies are going to look to other countries where production is a lot cheaper. I do think it's exploitation. The workers in those countries are used to working in poor conditions and receiving low pay. Since the companies know this, they know they're able to increase their profit margins even more by having poor working environments for their workers and paying them ridiculously low wages. They probably do this because they know that the workers won't retaliate. If that were to happen in the US, then there would be boycotts and union strikes.
this is not the case only in the clothing sector. generally in all sectors. Iphone X with $ 300-400 cost is sold for $ 999. this is a consequence of the capitalist system @amiramnoam

I own a few retail eCommerce sites and we occasionally sell clothing. While it is true that we get the clothing for extremely cheap, after you factor in costs such as advertising, shipping, and other random fees, you need that high price to still have some sort of profit at the end of the day.
But still, an insightful post!

Though most of people like fashion . So, the price of cloths should be cheap. Because most rich people of our society think that if they buy some damn cloths with high price, from some damn brands they gonna live on the edge . They will say look at me , look at my brand , it's brand bro. You will never gonna get like this one. So, I think it should be stop, and we should stop this Fashion Pollution, either it's gonna number 1 pollution problem in this earth.
Third world countries should rise against such foreign companies. Salaries supposed to be similar.

That s why fashion brands don tmanufacture in U.S..Granted that "made in the U.S.A." is a dead issue for the mass market, what are the prospects for a renaissance, at a much smaller scale, for "made in the U.S.A." for the luxury market? Reportedly, this market has experienced exceptional growth over all the years of wealth concentration among the top 1%. Is that where aspiring artisanal producers should be focusing, or where any possible reemergence of skilled crafts in America will come from? I thought the article was fine, but I felt it omitted some distinctions that help us think about this issue a little more broadly.
Thanks for sharing this, it is a fact many people don't know or maybe choose to ignore. I came to know about this sad truth when my brother sent me some clothes from the US, but it was written made in 'India' and I researched a little bit. Most of the clothes are imported from 3rd world countries. I hope this exploitation can be eradicated, but the saddest part is even with the little salary being paid, it is a source of livelihood for many people who wouldn't have job otherwise. So they are forced to continue.

That is why I just wear clothes that I already have and take care of them, some only fit when im healthy, some only fit when im fat.
Last time I bought clothes was 6 years ago! Just buy good quality stuff from talented individuals.

It's really shocking, that fashion industry is number 2 in environmental pollution, it shouldn't be like that. It has many cheap workers from third world countries (like you said, Bangladesh) who are abused and work a lot for little money.
We have many clothes shops and we really don't need so many clothes, we should reduce that. I have many clothes myself, but I wear them for years and take care of them, I don't change them quickly.
And if they are still wearable after some years or you don't like them anymore or can't wear them anymore or whatever you can always
It's also great to visit second-hand shops sometimes, but not so many people are satisfied with that yet. I still think their popularity is growing.

Oh my God. Yes. I have been wearing ONLY thrifted clothes for six years now. I love thrifting so much that I opened up a vintage clothing store on etsy. I feel really good about this way of making my living. I do most of my shopping for my etsy store at Goodwill Outlet. You would never believe the mountains and mountains and mountains of clothes that are discarded. So many AMAZING clothes, too! I wish I could save them all! May I place a link to my vintage store on etsy? I hope it's not tacky for me to do. This is how I make my living, and we here on Steemit are here to support each other and make the world a better place. There is no reason to ever buy new clothes for the rest of your life. We have enough clothing on planet earth right now to last God knows how many humans' lifetimes. When I walk by shops downtown, I literally have NO desire to ever shop like that. To me vintage is so much more fun. And when I'm a crypto billionaire I have already decided that the way I will shop for clothes will be on etsy, ebay, poshmark, depop. I will support people who are working for themselves helping our environment like myself. Buy your clothes pre-owned! Because the clothes that we wear are literally connected with thousands of peoples and the clothe industries are looking for more cheaper human labour and that is available in countries like india, Malaysia etc... Because the population is very high here and all of the population is not able to find work to feed their families,
So they only got an option to work in a very less amount of salary as compared to big countries like U.S.
So the exploding in population is their one of the biggest enemy and we have to take this matter seriously.
And the environmental pollution is not forgivable.😡😡

we have to think, the material used to be made, those workers need paying, it needs to transported to other country, costing money to a factory where more workers make it into a garment, then it needs steamed, packed and transported to shops, again, costing money then, a shop worker unpacks it, tags it and puts it out for sale, they need wages too.

Thanks for posting this. Every click on the internet and every purchase we make is really voting with our money and purchasing power.
Luckily there are local clothing manufactures and tailors here in Korea. There are also independent boutiques and designers. The advantage is these clothes don't smell like chemicals to the point of making the consumers high. These "local" clothes also last longer and have zippers that work. The disadvantage is the price. But in the end I am paying a greater price when I buy cheap clothes. My kids need new clothes all the time. The best source is relatives and friends. If we buy cheap new clothes it is like drugging my kids with factory chemicals. If we buy good clothes we give them to my niece and nephews when we don't need them.
My opinion on clothes is don't buy many and if you do then give them away when you don't need them.
It's all about that toxic, self-serving fashion ecosystem man. The dirty little secret of pricing is how much of a margin is made at both the wholesale and retail level. Some designers charge more than double and some stores charge more than double, and everyone makes money along the way. Fashion is a very subjective field - personally, I just wear whatever makes me comfortable. Simple.
