Dear friends, steemians, prospective leaders i don't know if you've noticed that everyone is taking about being strategic. But what follows after that makes you wonder.
How can someone say "Africans gat to be strategic by taking a break?" Please, how is taking a break strategic please?
So for you my friends, steemians, entrepreneurs, lets digest what it means to be strategic..
There is a clear difference between something being Strategic, Tactical and Operational. They are 3 different layers of management and leadership.
Now lets digest them one after another.
- OPERATIONAL
In the operational level, you find the mundane things we all do everyday in our work-space. The welcoming of clients, sending of emails, the manufacturing of products, the sales of your products and stuffs. These activities are operational. They are the nitty-gritties on which your business function. Things you are operationalizing everyday, routine activities that you do everyday to keep things going.
- TACTICAL
When you say things are becoming tactical, you mean to say that you've taken some steps backwards to evaluate yourself and receive valid and effective feedback that would help you launch out better. Being tactical means looking at your competitors and your brand to find common values, and understand what makes band A different from brand B, and what makes brand C different from brand D. At this point you are becoming tactical with yourself, business, game and all of that.
Tactical applications are short term applications, tweaks, moves and adjustments that is a 3x multiplier in your business. It multiplies your proficiency, result, effectiveness, quality by 3. It is the 3x game changer. That is to say that every effort you make tactically in your businesses, personal development, academics and stuff will give you 3x of the supposed result.
It is so beautiful to be tactical about basically everything in one's life but why would you settle for "better" when "best" exists? The best is to be strategic.
- STRATEGIC
Here in this level my friends and entrepreneurs, you are taking about a 10x game changer, a 10x result, a 10x increase in proficiency, effectiveness and quality.
Strategic things take a long time to do, a long time to conceptualize and a long time to apply or implement. So we talk about 10x anytime we mentions strategic.
Lets use the media marketing world as an example. Prior to now, bands and businesses make use of paid media (Radio Stations, TV channels and others) as their major advertisement channels but the millennial no long enjoy listening to radio stations unless there is a special program they are waiting for. Everything is being digitized and the ROI wasn't real good as businesses owners and brands wanted it to be. They therefore took a tactical step backward to find "Why" it wasn't working as effective as it use to. They discovered that everyone now uses the social media as a platform to get all their news and spend most of their life on the phone. Brands and business owners made another strategic move to push sponsored articles, videos and feeds into the social media and off course, narrowed it down to their targeted audience so the message would not be lost in the wind. That is being strategic...
Understanding the clear difference between strategic, tactical and operational things is very important because you want to know when to look at your Facebook and twitter page to receive your clients' feedback, and when to look at your pricing model. So you wouldn't do a 3x game changer job expecting a 10x result.
