Hello Steemians,
When I was growing up a common question I was always asked was, "What company do you want to work for?" But I was rarely if ever, asked, "What company do you want to start?" This is because most people have a similar mentality of growing up, working for a company and progressing their careers in that company. Then the same people join what most people in the world are in and that my friends is the rat race.
What is the rat race? The rat race (to me at least) is doing the same thing over and over with little to no progression. Until you are able to be financially free and rely solely on yourself to generate income to cover your bills plus more for additional savings and fun, then you are in the RAT RACE.
How to get out of the Rat Race
A 9-5 job can be very boring because the majority of them you do the same thing every day and even if you don't I can almost guarantee that you would rather spend those eight hours doing something else, like going to the beach or whatever it is you enjoy doing. Even though the 9-5 job may be extremely boring, you need to generate some sort of income to cover your bills and start making extra money to invest in some business idea. Remember a business doesn't have to be extremely complex, it could be something simple that generates income.
In my experience, learn a skill that the economy demands. For instance, if you go to a major retailer, the majority of the employees earn close to minimum wage. You may be asking why they earn a low amount and the reason for that is that they provide a service that many can do. BUT if you look at someone who knows how to do an in-demand skill, they earn much more than the average person. Thus, learn a skill, but make sure that skill is in demand in your economy.
Nevertheless, whether you learn an in demand skill or work multiple jobs to earn more, save your money until you have enough captial to invest in your busines idea. Remember getting ahead takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Nothing comes over night and requires dedication and working intelligently.
Lastly, remember failure is not bad. Everyone fails at some point. Some of the world's ricehst people failed many times before they found something that generated them enormous wealth. With every failure there is a lesson to be learned, which you can apply to your next business venture. I see many people every single day wasting SO MUCH TIME. Don't be one of those people. Have a set schedule that makes you as productive as possible because if you are wasting time, you are setting back your goals. Time is precious, make the most of it.
Keep working hard everyone!
