Capture in the supermarket or how to save from shopping

Introduction: Supermarkets use cunning tricks to make us spend more - but what? It's about creatures that have been developed for years, which imperceptibly make us put more products in the cart. In this regard, let's see the tips for more frugal shopping for consumers:

If you do not go shopping for a week, do not take a trolley.

Since they invented 40 years ago, the carts in the supermarkets have become twice as big. It is believed that the consumer unconsciously wants to fill the half-empty space and therefore accumulates more than he intended at the beginning.

The treats are not accidental at the entrance.

There are two options here. The first is to give people the opportunity to act "right" and "healthy." That is why many stores put the useful products such as fruits and vegetables closest to the entrance. It is believed that the more money the client spends on them, the more he compensates with the harmful goods like chocolates and snacks. The second option includes the placement of optional but very attractive products at the entrance, often those with the shortest shelf life - flowers or freshly baked bread. Entering, you are still full of enthusiasm and you are not keeping your budget as strict. The pleasant aromas of fresh produce also stimulate the senses and make the brain produce the hormone of happiness dopamine.

Carefully read the color price tags.

As a rule, labels that different color from others is associated with reduced and special shares. Often, however, they are not, or are insignificant. However, the impulse to buy advantage has already emerged.

Add the non-existent penny to the "clever" prices.

This is one of the most common tricks - to put a price that makes the product appear visually cheaper, for example, 3,99
USD. The same is true for the label with the old price is too thick and the new one is downloaded from above. Your brain processes this information more as an image than an arithmetic task. And that's why you choose an unnecessary item to "save".

Policies at the eye level are a bad choice.

There are the goods that bring the store the biggest profit. Carefully look - down and up you will find cheaper and less advertised variants of the same product. The physical inconvenience to do it, however, usually makes us put in the cart what we see most easily. "Gold shelves" often also include products that need to be sold quickly - such as products with an expiration date.

Attention! Children in the supermarket.

Big stores cannot miss such a chance - children's eyes always have sweethearts in bright packs or toys. Then the little one will take the product he is interested in and will push to a hole to get it. Many parents buy only out of concern because of the cry and tears of their children.

Do not follow the logic of the store.

Here everything is simple - in search of dairy products, you have to go through the whole shop and you will want to take a few more things on the way. The most needed products are usually located at the bottom of the store or are scattered throughout the area. So, to buy milk, bread, and eggs, you will first have to go through everything else.

You look not where you want, but where they want.

At the supermarket you often move clockwise - so the traffic is organized. So all the time you have to turn if you want to look to the left and your eyes instinctively point to the middle shelves on the right. Exactly there are so-called golden shelves, where the goods are the most profitable for the store. This way, you often take not what you wanted, but what you have made to buy.

Do you need additional items?

Often near the main products are placed additional. For example, the juice and carbonated beverages are standing beside the bread, and the shirts are ties. And it's all about buying more.

Quality - yes, visual tricks - no.

In most supermarkets, fruits and vegetables are washed and polished to shine. They are often sprayed with water to make them look fresher - and in fact, they are spoiling faster. In your fridge, they will quickly get their real look. The same goes for the meat - selling them on a pure white background and even painting them to make them look red.

The hungry man is an easy prey.

The appearance and scent of fresh food often make you "hungry" purchases. Better eat before you go to market - so you will save a lot.

The benefit is sometimes deceptive.

It seems to us that the promotional actions are endless. Buy a shampoo and get a second as a gift. Super deal! But before you buy, think really do you need one more of the same or just been greedy? If you buy two products that only need one, you earn a little while the store increases its turnover. Such shares are usually made with aging goods.

Music inspires.

It is proven that rhythmic music makes people move faster through the hall, fill their baskets with products, and make spontaneous purchases. Slow tunes make us look more closely at the assortment. The result is the same - we buy more. Some stores even have special playlists for different hours of the day. In the morning and during the day the main buyers are retirees and hosts, and in the evening enter the working population and the students. The two groups have different musical preferences and they are taken into account.

The last ambush is at the cashier.

Many stores stay on the surface thanks to your spontaneous purchases. Why do shelves with chocolates, cigarettes, wipes, chewing gum and carbonated drinks? This is the supermarket's last chance to make you spend money. You will look at these goods in any situation - while waiting in the queue. And in the face of big purchases, a chewing gum does not seem like much. Tired children will also probably ask for something.

Discount cards are more profitable for the store than for you.

The small discount creates the illusion that it is most profitable to shop right here. The standing client is a golden coil. You will probably come back again and spend more money with conscience concessional.

These are good points!
I would say as well:

  • always make a list of items that you want to buy before you go to the supermarket.
  • check with smaller stores - they often have better prices and a wider range of goods.
  • don't take your car to the supermarket (unless you have to) - you only buy what you can carry.
