Being unique is certainly a great way to differentiate yourself from others trying to do the same. We often fall victim to commoditizing ourselves which leads to us being replaceable and in a world where more is wanted for less, we cannot be surprised when we are replaced for an alternative. Automation will come and if we do not stand out as understanding and being part of the change given our uniqueness, we will not be able to survive.
