My Name is Fernando Sustaita, for many years I worked in the Oil and Gas industry as a Contracts Specialist. I used to negotiate agreements between companies usually for millions of dollars, I grew on the corporate ladder until I got to a senior position and one day the Oil and Gas industry crashed, my company began losing money and my newly founded department was eliminated.
Just like that I was with no job in a collapsed market, just 6 months before we had decided that it was best for my kids for my wife to stay home and resign from her teaching career. I have 3 kids and a lovely wife that supports me on all my adventures.
Needless to say, unemployment in Texas is only for 6 months and you barely get around $500 a month, I used to make $8,000 a month that check was barely enough for my Mortgage, because my wife was not working our savings were not that impressive.
Luckily I was expecting to lose my job so I had began selling Hot Wheels on Facebook, yes, a 100k Corporate employee was selling Hot Wheels on Facebook Groups making $20-$50 a day profit. It was my hobby and was bringing me nearly $1000 a month not bad but I knew if I was to lose my job it wasn't going to be enough. That's when I began Amazon.
March 2015 I launched my Amazon business and quickly began Making money, and in May 2015 it happened I lost my job. So I focused on finding a new one and on trying to make Amazon work just in case. On August I found a job, was a contract that was actually going to bring $120k a year, I thought I had hit the Jackpot. Well, on my third day at work I was called to a meeting was presented with a contract scenario and I called the process unethical and if a customer was to find out we would be sued. It happened that the person that proposed such procedure was my boss and instead of fixing it, while I was driving home I got fired. Yes, they fired me over the phone.
That's the day I decided to go full time at this, I finished my first year on Amazon at $94,000 and change on Sales, around $22,000 on Facebook Sales and around $8,000 on miscellaneous income streams.
At the end of 2015 I was introduced to Merch by Amazon and that's the day I found my Online Calling..... I was going to Master Print on Demand.
Today, I make more money that I used to make as an employee, make over six figures on Print on demand alone and now run groups on the topic on Facebook and have my own course on how I did it.
Life doesn't always go the way you expect it, but when it wants to kick you you better be ready to bounce back, today I get to spend more time with my family, I have never missed my kid's recitals, I am always a parent/teacher meetings, I take care of my toddler at home and I just couldn't be happier.
The day I lost my job I thought I had lost my career, and yes I did, after that job I had for 3 days my phone rarely rang to offer me an interview but it doesn't matter, because today I have a business and I get to enjoy my family and I determine how much I want to make today.
a very interesting experience @fsustaita, Welcome to steemit! Wish u best of luck!
Thank you
Welcome to Steemit :)
I love that you are now making the same amount but by being self employed. I really admire that and can't wait to learn from you! I also purchased your course and have been going through all the awesome content!
It's amazing how we go through something that seems bad, But in the end we realize it's not so bad afterall.
@kaylinart I am on Steemit because of you, I guess thats how it works we all learn something from each other. I love sharing what I learn. While in College I was offered the PhD program and the professor that tried to convinced me told me this, Knowledge is useless if you don't share it, I was young and wanted to make money so I passed on the opportunity. I still regret not doing my Doctorate specially since was going to be for Free but they wanted to pay me $18k a year salary, but I that phrase stayed with me ever since.
Wow! I love that quote. I'm glad that stayed with you, And I'm sorry you didn't end up getting your doctorate. I think that would of been really nice to have, But you still did a lot for yourself overall. And I admire that.
Thank you, Yes I kinda regret not doing it but I am happy with my life choices. See every decision I made took me where I am today, a different decision and I may not have this wonderful family.
