Hi,
I am not so good at writing stories but I thought I would share my Corporate world experience and see if you have dealt with similar issues...
You see, I've been with a large corporation for over 17 years and its been great till recently, when we got a "new boss" and now this job really sucks.
He is micro-managing everything we do, and I mean everything.
I am so ready to leave this place and don't know how to do it?
When you have been working for a company for so long, its really hard to change what I've been doing.
I have been working from home for the last 7-8 years and now they want us to show up to the office every day, even though I'm on salary.
I definitely do not want to start down this road.
Any suggestions would be appreciated?
Hey thanks for the post. I bet your new boss would be open to letting you continue your current situation if he saw the value in it. He/she is probably from the old corporate world where you show up in a suit and punch in the clock. Many businesses, especially in technology, are now actually encouraging their employees to work from home or work independent hours, as long as they are effective at getting projects completed and products sold. People seem to work more effectively when they are under less stress and in more comfortable situations. If I was you I'd look into these topics, including research articles that support these conclusions, and demonstrate to your boss that you are a better worker when you do it on your watch or at home. He/she has a heart and can be persuaded if they see the monetary benefit.
So I wish you good luck in getting the position you want that makes your life better!
