Artisans Angkor - Silk, Art & Craft Shop

in #business7 years ago (edited)

Artisans Angkor was originally created in 1999 to enable young people to look for some kind of work in their home towns, improving the lives of thousands of people living in rural areas and enabling them to practice their crafts while providing them with a vocation. It was made as a component of a three-year project to integrate youthful artisans trained by the CEFP (Chantiers-Ecoles de Formation Professionnelle) - whose goal is to revive ancient Khmer art and craft skills (stone cutting, wood cutting, lacquering, overlaying and silk processing).

Not just has Artisans Angkor turn into a company devoted to the protection of traditional Khmer skills in silk-production, stone and wood carving, lacquering and painting; however it is likewise an association committed to promote the development of people and secure their future by the methods for training and welfare. In 2003, Artisans Angkor turned into a limited company with minor public participation and is presently totally self-financed.

Today, Artisans Angkor's 1300 staffs are pleased to show the people around the world that Cambodian handicraft is as yet alive and more innovative than ever. By producing high quality products that express the dynamism of the Khmer culture, Artisans Angkor endeavors to be a timeless showcase for Cambodian artworks with pieces inspired by Angkor heritage as well as fashionable handmade garments and decorative things that can suit contemporary lifestyles.
