Overcoming stress...

in #business7 years ago (edited)

There have been very many studies done over the years that tell people how to manage stress. People all have their own ways of handling stress, sometimes even through bad habits. Today I would like to speak a little bit about effective stress management.

Know your personality

Sometimes in order to overcome stress, some introspective is essential. Are you introverted or extroverted? Knowing this is a good start as it will help you realize certain things about yourself and how to best manage your stress.

An extroverted person may find that going out and spending time with friends is a good way to relieve stress, but what if they are somehow not able to? Recent trends seem to indicate that online gaming is a way many extroverted people have started to relieve tension.

Introverted people have other challenges, they may find that being around people is the cause of the stress itself! They will then usually wind down by themselves reading a book or browsing the internet. Blogging may even be a good way for them to express themselves and relax. In cases where it is unavoidable to be around people, be firm with your boundaries. Find common ground as soon as possible. You might just spot the one other introvert and oddly enough, introverts tend to help one another in stressful environments.

Benefit from stress?

Stress is a very complex thing, but the rawest instinct of stress is fear. It puts us on edge and could even freeze us in place, but in that moment, we perform in ways that we can never imagine possible. Adrenaline is part of it but fear itself is a driving force...

Imagine if you will, that you have an upcoming deadline. In situations like that, stress is often unavoidable. Now think about what you would naturally do when there is a deadline. Some people will crack and may lose focus, that cannot be ignored, but for most, the stress of a deadline often motivates us to work even harder, often doing things we never imagined possible when there was no 'threat'.

I believe that part of the human psyche is to seek out 'danger'. If we weren't scared of the dangers around us, how would we ever learn to best them? This does not, however, mean that we should intentionally endanger ourselves, rather becoming more aware of your limitations helps you spot the threats you already face...

Just for Fun...

I would love to know the personality of people on Steemit, here is a free online test for you to take:

Best way to get rid of stress is to find the problem, design a pattern that will give us the solution.

Anything else we try to do is just running away from it, it will be back to make us worried again.

Working under stress doesn't make us work more, working under stress make us look like we are working more. Just like when we are angry, we feel like we are powerful, but we are just out of control and we can do anything, that doesn't mean anger gives us power.

If we are calm and focused, we can do more work in less time than we can do under stress.

Some stress is unfortunately inevitable. The difference between stress and anxiety is that anxiety is more related to fear and the paralysis it may cause. Stress could be as simple as being uncomfortable driving. Driving is however inevitable depending on your circumstance...

But I agree that rooting it out is the most effective solution.
