The holiday is also known as Horse Easter. Traditionally, the holiday is always on Saturdays - Todorova Saturday, the first week of the Grand Post.
Traditionally, horse racing is traditionally organized today.
The holiday is in the memory of Holy Theotokr Tyron, who has been celebrated for centuries.
According to the legends, the saint appeared to Archbishop Evdokia of Constantinople, told him the order of Julian the Apostate and told him to tell the faithful - to warn Christians this week not to take any food from the market. At the request of the Archbishop: what to eat during these days, St. Theodore replied: to prepare their wheat, to be their food. Archiep. Eudoxius asked: Who is he with whom he spoke, and St. Theodore told his name. Prompted for the Ordinance, Christians did not take any food from the market. Julian realized that the sly intention was revealed, that he was shameful, and that he had put unspoiled goods on the market.
The people's belief is that on this day, Saint Todor stripped off his nine cloaks, riding a white horse and going to God to pray for the summer.
Today all celebrate the names Todor, Theodor, Todor, Teodora, Tosho, Bozhidar, Bozhidara, Bozhana, Darina.
