I
don't normally post music that often, but sometimes I see things that I really really like. This one is not so much for the sound but the visuals and the message of the song.
Of course I don't understand the song very well, but it discusses the history of Bulgaria through the last 900 years or so - not many people know this, but it is the oldest, still existing nation in the world, with a continuous history that goes back to 685AD, and a lot of people also don't know that Germany, for example, has only existed since about 150 years ago.
Bulgaria has a long history of being subjugated by empires, and it is for this reason, in part, that in the Balkans in general, there is a great deal of very strong feelings about people being left to live how they want to live, which is also why there has been a lot of wars.
What I love especially about this is the beautiful landscapes that it shows, and it also features a quite famous waterfall called Momin Skok, as well as a lot of the so called 'Stara Planina' (Old Mountains) of the Balkans mountain ranges.
Bulgarian is quite a harsh sounding language, dominated by consonants and short, clipped vowels, it's a bit difficult to get used to, but I love it, and everything about this country. I feel like my life didn't begin until I came here.
The auto-translate to English of the subtitles works pretty well. Cool tune and nice scenes of nature!
