There are always 100 reasons for weak investor to panic and sell (extract). But the same reason becomes an oppurunities for strong investors to buy (build).
Sure but who is building? I feel most are just cashing
Relatively few builders as in developers. Lots of content creation but that’s just not as valuable as the work being done by coders.
There's many building, some extraction is okay imo as long as they're putting in value and effort and leaving something behind for the future users.
I think many will still be here and continue even after another -50% decline in price.
The community is going to survive, we know that. We've been through worse. The other question: extracting wealth or actually building, well, some have been here to extract from the beginning, those are going to extract, while others are building. It depends on the person. Those who are extracting and consider it's not worth it at this rate, are free to ... leave.
Probably about the best time to have a good look around, pick up on areas that need improvement. Think about the problems in the future and clear a path, so we don't end up right back here again. Why wait to come up with solutions?
"This isn't the first time and won't be the last," is the old adage that leads us here to today.
It's also a difficult period to tackle issues. Often others view those critiquing the current environment as people stressed about price.
Yet some of the problems persist regardless of token value. Hard to watch people convinced this is just a necessary part of life. That's just a sign of being desensitized.
Should come out of this bigger and better than before. Not just sit around waiting for number to go up.
I think like every bear and crash it exacts a toll on the community at large but I think it will survive once more
Only thing is, this hasn't been the crypto bear market cycle. We have crashed 65% below 2022 bear low of .26 cents while Bitcoin went up 850% same period from 15K to 126K. Even though alt season was canceled for most not just us, many cryptos at least went up from there 2022 bear low to new 400% up prices even though most as some of us predicted didn't touch 2021 All Time High's. It's not just another bear cycle, we crashed during the bull cycle, that's new and much different past
Aye that's true, but that's price. That's a whole other subject. What I mean is the community will survive. The price is another thing entirely, it's in the toilet and something will need to change to get it out

But point well taken. I just think many people are ignoring some big issues though, the amount of accounts openly powering down and saying it’s largely over the waste & abuse and lack of any accountability or transparency via DHF is quite alarming. If we can’t all agree to cut funding where we can’t see any data or documentation of spending, well this is basic stuff. Community funds must demand records so community can access spending and confirm there is no fraud or abuse or waste. I have 2 say I agree with those who have drawn a line in sand. This is basic common sense stuff and the fact we are being ignored well there’s a reason we have seen so many regular daily users from 2017 era on average decide to power down and leave this past year.

I am well with you on that. I think the dhf might have started out with some good intentions but had been ransacked with waste and in many cases outright fraud. That is one of the major things that has to change.
This is a tough time in the crypto market, and Hive is also impacted. People who are here just for short-term extraction might leave, but those who are real investors will stay because they know that returns are way higher in the long term. Certainly, this is not the time to extract, but rather to build more HP.
Many cryptos went up from
2022 bear lows and are still well above. Bitcoin moved from
15K to 125K the same period hive moved from .26 cents to .10 cents. Even though alt season was dead , many went up from 2022 lows to 400% plus higher levels, we crashed same period. It's not a simple everything move down story anymore. We must be honest and admit Hive went down by over 60% same period many went up. We will have a rough winter well below current .10 cent levels. Hold on my friends! .05 coming!
Sadly there are large forces clearly just milking reward pool and milking it effectively. There’s us who build community too but we are definitely out numbered by those milking chain and supporting waste via DHF
Wealth is something that is built, not earned, which takes time, along with patience and belief.
This is undoubtedly a difficult time from the perspective of the entire Hive community, but I have decided to take this as an opportunity and focus on building wealth while staying invested.👍🏼
Hive as a platform is still sound, but the crypto markets are fickle and it's 'old news' now. I don't see many other real alternatives to the corporate platforms and I've had too many issue with those. Plenty of people are building on Hive.
It's nie to see the comments , maybe I'm just missing the builds.
I sometimes see little things change or data stuff, but reasons to join hive I don't see much after all splinterlands and leofinance.

We each have our own reasons for being here. I've run my own blogs before, then seen Google shut down multiple platforms, then Tsu collapsed, but I get better engagement here than anywhere else. I've met so many cool people along the way. That has value to me.
I think we'll continue to bottom bounce for at least a couple more years. Maybe someone will actually make a fun game that will revive the chain, but as long as it's just a blogging platform with gatekeepers, meh, it's not going anywhere good.

Even at these prices, I believe that people who are active on Hive are here to build. People who comment and are still developing projects can't have any other purpose. At least that's how it is for me.
My guess is about 30% extracting and 70% building. 10% margin of error either way.

The community, yes. The coin? Hopefully. The good thing about low prices could be that a lot of extractors are shaken out because they can't make as much money. Meanwhile, those who are here to build and create content probably don't mind as much. Or at least I hope so :-D
It still looks pretty strong from where I sit.
It's difficult time but right now I am focused on building wealth. Not a good time to extract wealth.. Cheers

It's a good time to build with low hive prices. There are more Hive in post rewards. In contrast, low prices will probably discourage extraction in the short term.
