Interesting Hotel in Knysna!(part 1) - by @awgbibb

in #building7 years ago (edited)

There was an Old Mill in Knysna which not only acted as a Timber Mill but also supplied Electricity via Steam Driven Generators .

Once the Municipality started Supplying Power via Regular Power Stations the Need disappeared and The Mill Closed Down.

Somebody had the Bright idea to Build on and turn this into a Hotel and leave the Machinery and Piping in there as Decor!

Amazing piece of history, just love it, is that a glass floor on "Behind the above Picture, you can see this!"

McLuhan said, antiques are another generation's junk - I thought the hotel was charming, and maybe that was why, lol

Amazing machinery.... I know about some machines from your article... it’s really very surprising to me... and also know lots of things... thanks for sharing..

nice post friend..... & nice photo.... thanks for share.....

an incredibly great idea. The photos and the space are very private and beautiful

Repurposing this old machine building is a great idea. In no way did the chains or turbines distract from the hotel. It added a piece of history that won’t be soon forgotten. Yes more photos. 🐓🐓

this is really greatly brief about the history of hotel, @africaunited thanks for sharing and mostly the credit goes to @awgbibb just because him, I always found something different here on steem.
