Terms and conditions bug

in #bugs7 years ago

I had my browser hijacked by a prompt to agree to the terms and conditions of stinc.
Im sure you have experienced this hijacking, too.
While trying to read the terms, i know, just me right, i had my window hijacked again.
Now, i just clicked the terms again because i read kinda slow, according to some, and went back to reading them, again.
When, can you imagine?, it happened again.
I was forced to accept the terms before i could even read them.
What kind of crap is that?
Is this the bleeding edge coding we get at the premier social media site of the 21st century?
Seriously, can we get that countdown clock extended to give us slow readers a chance?
And what kind of court enforces this crap?
Thats crapitalism for ya,...

And he is underqualified to boot.
Just too incompetent.
What kind of a job could he get in a fiat hitech company?

I am sure that - - "I was forced to accept the terms before i could even read them." - - is not quite legal, but they will say all they are required to do is tell you there was a change, which they did. But you made a post, that you were forced and coerced in order to continue using their product, not sure that is legal, but at least we posted and complained about the coercion.

As well you could make a post that you are "Under Duress" and codify it with this U.C.C. code to make it official. U.C.C. 1-308. Performance or Acceptance Under Reservation of Rights

Edit: here is the link for those inquiring minds https://www.law.cornell.edu/ucc/1/1-308

I have been signing all documents U.D. for about 25 years now. The code used to be U.C.C. 1-207 so make sure you keep up with it if you use it.

Thank you, I knew there was some way to protect our rights, not that I could afford a lawyer if ever needed, but still thanks.

I'm not a Lawyer nor do I recommend you hire one of them.

The prosecutors, Judges and all licensed "practising" Attorneys are members of a club called the "Bar" Which signifies Admiralty and Maritime Jurisdiction. And it violates the unbiased position they should all have. Unless you want to submit to that jurisdiction you have to represent yourself Pro-Se.

Never enter a plea. Once you do that you have acquiesced to their demands and are subject to them.

It would be wise to understand your rights and how to defend them in an adversarial court system. A good place to start is by watching Carl Miller on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=carl+miller

Thanks Honey! You are a awesome woman you read my mind!

Thank you both for the links, I hope to never need another lawyer in my life, at least with the internet an individual can look for information, and try to gather a basic understanding into the system should they ever get dragged into it.

Well, unless they got some evidence to present, it wont get past the first time i get to make my record in court.

I have not seen it maybe only you important guys get it? I use Ubuntu and Mozilla.

Im using chrome on an android tablet, maybe they dont support firefox?
Maybe its a psyop to see who just accepts.

...because bots read faster than humans...

Me too! I need a bit of time to read and digest the terms and conditions especially when they are written in legalese! I am a homesteader, not a lawyer!

I sit here on a quad core laptop with 32 gb of ram, a 17 inch wide screen, and I did not even get chance to read it properly, I too "had to comply" for the fecking life of me I have zero idea what I just agreed to, did I sell my soul? only stinc has the answer.

F'n stinc, proving once again why old people do a better job of ruling the planet,...

Same happened here, and I became suspicious of a hack because the date was last Feb for when it was updated. When I attempted to read, the same popup happened, so I quickly logged out.

I haven't accepted the terms, but instead have switched to esteem to wait out any news of a possible theft of stolen keys.

Man, lets hope its just another bonehead move from stinc,...

It really is an amateur move. As a software dev with over 20 years experience running my own software business, this one really was surprising. I think it very unlikely that there was a compromise, but the reason I paused was because my iMac crashed at the very moment that I first saw that screen (within 2 seconds), then when I rebooted, and checked the two links, they only gave me about a second to read which made me really suspicious, so I logged out (it keeps me automatically logged in most of the time with my posting key).

But then I logged back in just a few minutes ago and haven't seen those two checkboxes pop up since. So having never accepted the terms, it somehow either logged them as accepted automatically by login or they just forgot. This proves that Stinc isn't decentralized. There's others like Busy.org, Partiko (Android) and eSteem (also Android)...

This stuff should be on something like Blockstack or Substratum.

Lol, just restates the obvious.
Stinc never expected this to last much beyond the initial ico money grab or they would've hired some competent managment.
