For practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism, the schools represent the lineages of teachers and disciples who have kept the teachings alive for the benefit of all beings. I present them below in chronological order.
Para los practicantes de Budismo Tibetano las escuelas representan los linajes de maestros y discípulos que han mantenido viva las enseñanzas por el beneficio de todos los seres. A continuación te las presento en órden cronológico.

The Nyingma school: Also known as the "Old School", it is the oldest school of Tibetan Buddhism. It focuses on the practice of Dzogchen, based on discovering the primordial state and natural condition of beings, also called "the nature of the mind". The main teacher of the school is Padmasambhava, Guru Rinpoche.
La escuela Nyingma: También conocida como la "Antigua Escuela", es la escuela más antigua del Budismo Tibetano. Se enfoca en la práctica de Dzogchen, basa en descubrir el estado primordial y condición natural de los seres, también llamado "la naturaleza de la mente". El maestro principal de la escuela es Padmasambhava, Gurú Rinpoché.

The Kagyu School: This school focuses on the practice of Mahamudra, a form of meditation that involves understanding the ultimate nature of mind and reality. The Kagyu school is also known for direct oral transmission since the first Karmapa was taught by the main teacher Gampopa and here the lineage is born.
La escuela Kagyu: Esta escuela se enfoca en la práctica del Mahamudra, una forma de meditación que implica la comprensión de la naturaleza última de la mente y la realidad. La escuela Kagyu también es conocida por la transmisión oral directa desde que el principal maestro Gampopa le enseñó al primer Karmapa y aquí nace el linaje.

The Sakya school: Founded in the 9th century, it is known as the Manjushri Lineage. The tradition is also known for its emphasis on the three visions, a meditation manual that brings together all the techniques and instructions necessary for an ordinary person to overcome negative emotions, be free from all suffering, and achieve perfection. It originated with the great teacher Virupa in North India.
La escuela Sakya: Fundada en el siglo IX, se conoce como el Linaje de Manjushri. La tradición también es conocida por su énfasis en las tres visiones, un manual de meditación que reúne todas las técnicas e instrucciones necesarias para que una persona corriente supere las emociones negativas, se libere de todo sufrimiento y logre la perfección. Se originó con el gran maestro Virupa al norte de la India.

The Gelug School: Founded in the 14th century, this school is known as the "School of Virtue", founded by Tsongkhapa. The Gelug school is best known for its spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, and they are also called the yellow caps.
