The EU proposal on the Irish borders, with the prospect of including Northern Ireland alone without the rest of the Kingdom in a "common area" aligned with European legislation, is inadmissible because it "would violate the constitutional integrity" of the United Kingdom .

So Prime Minister Theresa May during today's Queston Time in the House of Commons in response to the claims of Michel Barnier.

"No British Prime Minister could ever agree"

Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, will remain in the EU customs union even after Brexit, as previously mentioned by the Community caponegment, Michel Barnier. Barnier today presented the first draft of the divorce treaty with London, stating that Northern Ireland could remain "fully aligned" with Ireland, a member of the EU, unless a better solution is found.

Barnier also called for an acceleration of the negotiations with London: "If we want to succeed in these negotiations - and we want it - we must speed up the pace," Barnier said.
