I think the potential for Ethereum is huge, but it does need to resolve those scaling issues, which have been brought to light over the past few days.

It also looks like Bitcoin may be sorting out its own scaling issues (hence the recent increase in the price?) so I don't think so in the short term. Long term though... it just might be.
