Bmw 318d 2007 56 reg loss of power

in #bmw7 years ago

I started losing power on motorway journeys in the beginning then on local roads..the mechanic told me that i need a new turbo. What i didnt know is that any bmw car over 2005 is comouterized. After i purchased the turbo £1200 when i was better off repairing the same one for £300 because the mechanic that fit it in forgot to reset the computer which made the car only last under a mile after being fitted with the new turbo.

I scrapped the car after as i did not was to spend anymore money on it. The advice given here is that if you do have a bmw over the 2005 year then its best to repair the part then buy a new one because apparently even if you change the battery to a new one you still need to reset the computer which is the ecu not the small 20 quid machines people use to get rid of dashboard signs. If you do not tell the car you have changed the battery the car will breakdown and not start.

I bought a e220 covertiable 2018 after, i think its more of a reliable car
