I am Mike "TheZorch" the creator of Zorch Central. It didn't start out as something I'd do as a career. Running the Youtube channel was more a hobby than anything, but then I started a show called "Chloe & the Professor". It was an animated series created using Plotagon, a free animation tool for PC and smartphones with limited capabilities compared to more advanced tools like Nawmal or GoAnimate. The primary reason why I started the show was to call out the gaming industry for their anti-consumer business practices. It has since evolved into something that users video game discussion as an educational springboard for many other subjects, and to also teach gamers that they do have a voice. This got the attention of the owner of Gamers Bay, and I've been working with him ever since.
We're relative beginners when it comes to content creation. I knew nothing about video editing, and even now I still have a lot to learn. Most of my attention has been on helping Gamers Bay grow so my own channel lagged behind on content. Recently I decided to change that with the creation of several new shows. Gamers Bay is primarily retro gaming based and I created an entire series of videos for Atari arcade games. Now I am working on an Atari 2600 series and plan to delve into the Commodore 64 after that. On my channel, I've been streaming Elite Dangerous and Final Fantasy XIV. I've been putting a lot of effort into both channels since late 2016 and now Google is about to throw all of it in the garbage.
All is not lost, I still plan to continue pursuing my efforts to grow both channels on Youtube, but I no longer have any hope of actually making a living there. Google wants to fundamentally change Youtube into something that will make them money. I understand the reasons why they are making these changes to the Partner Program, why they need to get rid of the "bad actors" polluting the site, but in doing so they are also throwing out the baby with the bath water. This is the second time Google has changed their terms and it likely will not be the last time either. After two Adpocalypses, virtually no safeguards against fraudulent DMCA Takedowns, overzealous demonetization of anything that can be even slightly considered offensive even when it isn't, and now this second round of Partner Program changes I've lost any hope that Youtube has a future as a viable platform for new content creators.
That is why I am here. I believe that the very concept of cryptocurrency is a higher level consciousness idea. Whether the governments and central banks of the world like it or not cryptos are the future. Monetary systems as they work now favor a small percentage of the population while the majority go without. Cryptos by their very nature change all of that. SteemIt represents what will become a new paradigm, where your currency is backed by something much more valuable than gold, silver, and oil. Your efforts, your creativity, your imagination, those things are far more valuable. When you create something you are passionate about you put a lot of effort into it and that is what backs the cryptocurrency of SteemIt. It is a new way of thinking, a new way of working, a new way to live that will transform the world. That is why Zorch Central is here, and I'm here to stay.
I've somewhat changed my thoughts on YouTube. I do see a future with YouTube, but with Google being cut out of the equation. I'm all for continuing to grow things like Gamers Bay and Zorch! At this point, I plan for us to continue to sap up as much of Google's network and server resources as possible, while ensuring they never see a dime.
