Dissociative Identity Disorder Clues You Missed

in #blog6 years ago

As soon as someone hears "Dissociative Identity Disorder" or "Multiple Personality Disorder", they immediately venture to some pretty terrible representations within Hollywood movies. Once that ignorance has passed, they flip open the DSM-V and read through a pretty small checklist of symptoms.

Well, we are here to tell you that DID is so much more than a handful of symptoms. Throw the DSM out and take a look in to what the disorder is really like.

There are many, many subtle symptoms and "clues" that go hand-in-hand with the disorder that aren't taught in schools and really can only be taught through experience and talking to someone who suffers from the Disorder. Along with that, it is incredibly important to note that each and every system (a term referring to the collective of host and alters) is unique and different.

Having been diagnosed and avidly working through recovery for the last year, I began to notice nuances and subtle symptoms that I hadn't noticed before (and yet now make so much more sense).

We made a YouTube video to talk more about what some of these clues look like, and we plan to make sequels in the future.

Check it out below:

We are professionally diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder and use our experiences not only from childhood but also through recovery to advocate for DID and Mental Health Awareness.

If there is anything else you would like to learn more about in regards to DID, please let us know in the comments! We try to upload one video each week.

We have considered switching over to DTube from YouTube but are unsure of making the switch. Let us know in the comments what you think!
