The Maison stretched in the Rhône

in #blog7 years ago

The Barrès-Coquet agency is made up of two architects dplg, Caroline Barrès and Thierry Coquet. The couple designs contemporary houses, extensions and rehabilitations using mainly steel. We were seduced by one of his accomplishments called the Stretched House.

What the couple said about this project: "The house is organized from elements (wooden chests) installed parallel to the slope lines. They structure both the domestic space and the surrounding landscape, allowing framing on distant views.
By echoing the walls of gilded stones of the street, this spatial device sits the house in its site and allows all the routes blurring the boundary between the interior space and the outer space.
By their installation and their capacity, the transformable chests integrate all the functions and allow a great spatial modularity.
The partitions - either pivotable, either foldable, or retractable - organize and divide the space. The pieces of furniture integrated into the chests define the use of the parts:
"Open" coffers: the same space can be transformed, from a room to a laundry or an office depending on whether the furniture is a bed or a desk ...
Closed coffers: the function of the place disappears and loses its domestic scale to the benefit of the landscape.
Space can become contemplative, Zen, almost museum. "

L'Ensemblier has been commissioned to design interior architecture and decoration, here is its note of intention on this project: "The life of this house open to the outside extends into this garden with many facets where furniture and materials were selected and orchestrated by the Ensemblier. From the meal space to the rest area through the swim lane, each piece of furniture justifies its use, each material its relevance. The tone given is the same as inside: a balance between pieces of yesterday and creations of today.
In the wake of the design of this experimental house realized by the Barres-Coquet architecture studio, l'Ensemblier intervened to dress up the interior of this minimalist architecture. The choice of materials was essential to meet with softness and comfort the raw materials chosen for the design of this habitat. Curtains in woolen cloth from the Bisson Bruneel workshop, furniture of confidential editions, French and Danish classics of the twentieth century coexist. A habitat whose luxury is discreet. "
