The journey to Khanom became a bit tough when it comes to sleep, although the distance is not that far and the coast is the same. We enjoyed the day and most of the evening with friends so in that way the time went by and at midnight we took our backpacks and walked to the train station, in spite of the late hour, some people already sat there waiting for the train to the south.
At 00.40 the train arrived and we jumped in at our car. It feels almost as if you jump in on the go, but it's a bit like everything here in Thailand. First it's always ”take it easy and relax”, and then in a second, ”it's hurry hurry”, but we have started to learn it by now. Most of the cabin had already pulled out of their curtains and tried to sleep in the light of the fluorescent lights and the crazy symphony from the fans so we scrambled up in to ours, this time both had the upstairs beds and that's not the spontaneous first hand choice, but it was The ones that were left when we booked.
"The beds" are narrow like .. I do not know what to say, and without rails and the fan are about thirty centimeters from the nose, so when fatigue took over the near-death experience and I finally managed to slumber a bit, the trainman came and said that it was Surat Thani Next stop, it was almost 06 (?!)
On the trainstation we managed to get past all the taxidrivers and head to the local bus which took us to town and the bigbusstation for 20 baht / pp.
The busstation in Surat Thani is big and it is louded with small ”holeinthewall” travelagencies and people who meet up and want to sell bustickets but vise from the mistake last year we put on our most targeted faces and took us to the other end of the bus station, where there were a ticketstation where we bought a ticket to Khanom for 100baht (corresponding ticket last year by vendor 350 ..)
It is a lot of talking about baht and it sounds a bit sad and boring when I read what I have written, but at the same time I want to share some tips that I have found out during the trips, and it is not that we get around and are stingy all the time when we travel, I would like to pay for things to the right price and I would like to add extra, but I do not want to be fooled.
And we eat good and drink good and if we really want to do something, we'll do it, I feel like I'm making myself look really greedy and that doesn´t feel good, but I don´t think I am that bad, it's more that some things I think are "unworthy" to spend money at and others I do not, and even that can change from day to day. Most of the time the accommodation itself is not a big deal for me, but I know that many people think it's important, if we are super-tired and jet-lagged, maybe it's worth taking a taxi. And another day finding a cheap solution is our goal, it depends a bit on the feeling of the day .. or sometimes it's just a challenge. The important thing is to do what feels right for yourself and your wallet. And have the knowledge that there are choises.
Now we have been in Khanom for five days, and this is also one of the places that We feel warmly about. We have been hanging out with nice people, people we have met during previous trips here, we have sunbathed (which is not something We do very often strange enough) eaten good..and less good food ... but different.
And tonight our last evening we ended up on the Saturday market together with friends and We had a last visit to Eid and her family, which was also expanded tonight by a puppydog.
Early In the morning we put on our backpacks again and walk the fairly long way to the bus station for further travel back to Surat Thani where we will have a little bit of a challenge trying to find another bus to the next destination .. as will be our last before Bangkok and our hometravel in just a little over two weeks.
the sun is still shining🌺❤️☮️☀️
