1 Year on Steemit

in #blog7 years ago

Hey All,

Just wanted to say it's my Steemit birthday, I made this Steemit account 1 year ago as of yesterday, and I wanted to look back at how everything has progressed within the last year, in my life, on Steemit, and in the crypto-sphere.

It really is mind boggling to think about how different everything was just a short time ago.

1 Year ago, I was basically homeless. I left my Dad's home because of some issues I had with his girlfriend. & I was fortunate enough to have other relatives who wouldn't allow me to sleep in my car, but made it pretty clear they would prefer if wasn't staying with them. I spent about 6 months there maybe longer. I don't want to come off as ungrateful, I live near Atlanta and see homeless people semi-frequently. Even while I struggled I was fortunate enough to have a job, vehicle, and accommodating relatives. 1 Year later, I'm in a relationship, renting my own apartment, working the same job and driving the same car. Living a very stable life, and looking to improve my situation by purchasing property and leaving the tenant trap. I'm not in a financial position where I'm able to do that right now, but it's at the front of my mind.

1 Year ago, Bitcoin was less than $1,000! Steemit was only 9 months old, and not very popular. I'd been watching the price of Bitcoin for a while and hoping it would make a significant dip so I could put some money in, but it just kept going up and up. I signed up for Steemit because of a video Jeff Berwick released about it. I became fascinated with the concept of and joined immediately. 1 Year later, Bitcoin rocketing & is at roughly $16,500 @ 5:00PM EST December 14th 2017. at this point its become useless almost to post BTC price updates as every day it was $1,000 higher than it was the previous day. & I dont know how many users Steemit has but Wikipedia say 170,000 as of March this year, and is growing quickly. I'd speculate that we're approaching half a million users? If anyone knows a way to obtain that figure please comment!
& I wont forget, the Steemit inspired Youtube replacement, D Tube. At this stage all of these have nowhere to go but to the moon.

Crypto's are just starting to go mainstream now, as opposed to 1 year ago if I asked somebody what Bitcoin was they would look at me with that blank glazed eye normie stare we all know and love. On top of that I think Dtube and Steemit are poised to skyrocket given that alternative media and others who commit thought crimes are now being heavily monitored, censored, demonetized, on social media giants Facebook, Youtube, etc & even arrested in some cases. These people, and witnesses to this situation are being introduced to Steemit, slowly.

I wonder what things will be like in 1 more year...

Thanks for reading, posting again soon.
