If you haven't heard, Pocket's the word lately on steemit chain. For good reason one might add.
Pocket is a new Token created for the steemit community. Your pocket tokens are directly tied to your @steemit account. So anyone who owns a steemit account can now buy, sell, trade, use, and win tokens of the First subtoken built on the steemit blockchain.
Created by @biophil as a steemit experiment pocket adopters have already started creating bots and fun unique useful applications for the less than 1month old Token.
Pocket is now available to trade on bitshares.
While this service isnt quite necessary yet, it shows that believers in the steemit platform are aggressively trying new things in attempts to grow steemit even bigger. @virtualgrowth has an excellent article on bitshares and pocket here.

Pockets value is currently somewhat low, around 15k pocket per 1SBD, one can argue that this is higher than expected. Pocket genesis was spread through word of mouth among fellow steemians. I dont remember how i found out about it but i got lucky and received mine about 1 week before the deadline to claim. In that week i must have done 50 posts trying to get everyone on steemit to claim their free and rightful Tokens. As you can see my mission isn't complete as im still trying to spread the word while the price is still low.
What guarantee is there that pocket tokens will rise in value? None. But there were 1,222 Genesis claims. Each claim was awarded 1million tokens, which brings the total supply to 1,222,001,222 Pocket tokens. No more pocket can ever be made. As these tokens slowly get spread amongst more users, as well as more development and uses arise, i can see pocket gaining some major STEEM here in the coming weeks and months ahead.
So if you missed out on Pocket Genesis or this is your first time hearing about pocket, it might be worth the risk to grab a few in the early stages just incase.

I was also one of the lucky ones to get my pocket tokens let's see where they
We are few. The lucky. Its up to us to spread them around a little. Keeping some for self of course!
Can pockets also be send to users which didn't claim @ Genesis?
15k/ 1SBD is sweet... meaning the Genesis claim is worth about 67 SBD. I'm loving it!
Yes. Anyone with a @steemit account can hold and use pocket tokens. In Genesis they were free to claim. Now that Genesis is over no more pocket can be created. So if you want pocket and missed genesis you'll have to buy some from someone here on steemit or bitshares.
Great post , thanks. Resteemed and made a post about Pocket 👌🏻

Very good post
Thank you for your encouragement!
This is cool!
I'm just curious, why would anyone expect a subtoken to do well when the parent token is not? Doesn't make any sense to me. And during a time when there is a bot revolt happening? Makes even less sense.
Well... just because the parent token is doing poorly in your eyes doesnt mean others share your opinion. And one could say what better timing than now if it were doing poorly.
All a matter of ones own perspective. I say any positive addition to steemit is welcome at anytime! Especially in these volatile markets. Thanks for your thoughts!
I'm curious why you think Steem is doing poorly.
New accounts - Down. Active participation - Down. Retention - Not Good. If you think Steemit is doing well, do tell! As a well vested participant, I only hope for continued success.
User registration is probably a big cause for new people trying to sign up.....my wife has tried to get an account with no luck. Facebook has no problem creating accounts.....thats a big deal that needs fixed. Also I think it needs messaging, groups, user galleries and a few other things....then it could compete / replace facebook.
@bohemian Are you really a bohunk? Me too!
Fair points, but have you adjusted them for the cooling crypto-mania? You say all those metrics are down, but down since when? The all-time-highs of a few months ago?
Short-term numbers I pulled from another post. But it makes sense. Steemit definitely needs some work done on the front end like @bohemian says.
I just reviewed the Steem price charts for the last four months. Take away the dips and rises and Steem is on a downward price trend... from $2.50 to about $1.00.
To continue to play the devil's advocate, you cherry-picked the 1-year high as the start of your review. Review the price charts for the past year and things look rosier.
How do you know we're not settled to a fair price of $1, and $2.50 wasn't just a wild rare aberration?
But I really am just playing devil's advocate. In truth, I suspect that Steem is participating in a long-term cryptocurrency price slump.
That, or a certain reality has set in. I hope though, for the sake of my investment of time and money, you are right.
Yeah, mostly. I 'm just not comfortable looking at long term downtrends of any kind.
